hey fhrope...another good thing to do is:beam scanning,fire extinghuisher,and guided missiles. Just take down the other jets with the minigun and take down any ground targets or any laser desagnated air targets...kils in one hit

I like running extinguishers and guided missile. The machine gun is definitely the best when dealing with enemy aircraft in my opinion. The F-35 and F-15 have a really strong gun when compared to their heat seekers

in the ps3 version if you plant mines or claymores then fly in the jet, if the enemies die from your explosive traps while you're in the jet you'll get jet points

@seyfo101 search for "1" or "one" and you'll find "1 player start" servers which are great for jet practicing. Also unmark "ranked" so you SPM doesn't drop etc.

i found out you can look around in the cockpit. not sure how to do it on pc but on xbox you hold down on the dpad and use the annolog stick to look around.

If enemy Jets and Helos own the sky, heat seekers will make your life easier, but if its the other way around and you want to become CAS and help your ground teams, Pods definitely make short work of tanks and troops

If more people just played Ace Combat, the BF3 jet game-play would be far more intense. TIP: Don't forget about YAW. (: Making good use of yaw and pitch can reward you with some crazy lock/gun lock breaking moves.

It's also really helpful if you know the enemy pilot has flares, to lock (sometimes if you hold your lock they'll deploy flares early, then you can fire both and own them) or you can lock, fire one missile, switch the gun when flares deploy to disable the lock on, then switch back to your remaining missile and nail him.

Everyone has flares on the PS3 (I'm sure its the same with XBOX & PC), so heat seekers are just a waste of a weapon slot. A good burst of the gun will take down most jets - missiles not needed.

Put the rocket pods on, go up high, hit the air brake and take out the people on the ground :)

@NoodleDoorant depends how you use it. What I usually do is fire one rocket, then flares go down then you re-lock and fire another. Flares cooldown will be going up tomorrow with the new patch so that will work even better

@NoodleDoorant - i use rockets because i prefer to help the team but heatseekers can be used effectively. half the morons in the air flare too early anyways(tho that can jam a lock). but yeah as he said making them flare and then catching them is a better method than firing both. also getting right up on someone to where they dont have time to flare properly can work well. i find the gun more effective though

Just a little tip... I found that you can dodge some missiles by barrel rolling. But if you don't feel confident enough and you have the fire extinguisher equiped,just fly straight to avoid being shot out of the cockpit. Maybe you could show a bit of it in a video some time, thanks.

Wow, PC players are very docile when it comes to flying. I play on the PS3 and people don't play nice. No one uses the afterburner, unless they're running from an engineer. Otherwise, they're usually flying as slow as possible to make it hard to maneuver and have you overshoot them.

another trick is figuring out the maximum height on the map, and then fly as high as you can and scout for other aerial veichles, when u see them - just dive down and fly behind them - easy kills, and you won't have those stingers on ur ass either.

I'll give you a tip that's guaranteed to get hits even if they use flares. Once you have them locked ONLY shoot one missile, then once they've dropped their flares from that individual missile wait for the lock on again and fire. Their recovery time for each flare is a lot longer than it takes for you to get a lock on them again. Don't ever shoot two in a row, just repeat that process (Works a lot easier on noobs, you'll need to gun down pros).
