First of all, Sakharine was a minor character in the comic books, not the main antagonist, and the Bird Brothers owned Marlinspike Hall. Not sure why Speilberg messed up the plot.
I loved to watch the series as a kid. I didn't want to see the movie though. But the day my sister and my dad were going to see it I thought I'd just go with'em, since I had nothing better to do. And I figured everyone would be talking about it anyway. And wow, it was one of THE greatest movies I've ever seen.
I waited for this movie for two years. Saw it opening night and couldn't be more thrilled! Can't wait to see it again. It's made alot of money abroad...makes me almost ashamed to be an American, because it's not doing as well over here. Guess Americans would rather see The Devil Inside instead of something that is a masterpiece of its genre.
I have all the books and I've read them countless times. This movie was the best thing this Christmas. The airplane scene was awesome. When Tintins'' head is just inches away from the propeller! It is so hilarious. And the boat scene and the all the others. I was so into the movie, I didn't realize I was out of popcorn!
@Tenzinpelha that's because tintin was the source of inspiration for Jones, and Jones the inspiration for Croft and Croft the inspiration for Drake, ipsofacto, Tintin is the boss xD
lol they mixed the book where tintis meets haddock when he burns the oars when he did that he was drunk, also the movie about the small ships is i think called the secret of the unicorn
I saw it 2 days ago and it was INCREDIBLE. Slow at first, but that was to establish the characters and build up the story. Once it got going it didnt stop. That scene with the motorbike (at the end of the trailer) took my breath away.
@Anonkyou when you said poor American impression i took that as an impression of an American. Now I get you. Ah I don't think its that terrible although it doesnt scream any particular just a generic 'english' one. I can't even remember why I came to this trailer. If Tintin is Belgian though, why has he got an english accent?
@Anonkyou Yeah the whole series is Belgian and so is Tin-Tin but I imagine when translating it into english it was probably tweaked a little bit or just made quite general so he's almost nationality...less (if thats a word, if not we can pretend it is)
@therandomflipy No, it wasn't. Spielberg commented that he only got to know Tintin after reviews from Raiders pointed out the similarities between the brands. He apparently had never heard of Tintin before that.
@Donklopfen uncharted is inspired by indiana jones and tomb raider... indiana jones might be inspired by tintin (even though i find it hard to believe an american brand being inspired by a belgian comic) .. so indirect you might be right... still i like uncharted better myself... little less 4 kids
Though I think translations from 2D animation to live-action are more interesting, this looks good anyway and better than previous motion capture CGI movie attempts.
You mean like American Pop? but you glad this movie doesn't cross into the uncanny valley? it earned postive early reviews in Europe since it's premiering in France/Germany/Belguim and the UK to this month and finally in the US in December. You glad uncanny valley has been defeated in Mocap just like Avatar and Rise of the Apes did? they all conquered the dead-eye effect which creeps you out. you familar with the character? a very Indiana Jones-like character since 1928.
@Johnlindsey289 I like American Pop better, because it's traditionally animated. I mean, if your'e trying to make it this realistic, I just don't see the point of not making it real. But, yeah, glad it doesn't look as bad as previous motion capture CGI. I'm sure it will be a good movie, because it looks like they worked hard on it. I wouldn't say uncanny valley has been defeated though. Even in Apes, it was still there for me, because Dead Eye wasn't the only issue. There is just a general look.
I grew up with the HBO Cartoon 20 years ago when i was 10 and became a fan of the character, his show introduced me and other American/Canadian kids to the character and read some of his adventures as well.
@happytreefriendlammy yeah, i think everything looks awesome, except for 2:02 since it's motion capture it's like deciding if it's a lapse of bad capture or a lapse of bad acting by jamie bell
I guessed so (after John Williams composed the music for 20 movies which were directed by Spielberg) but its rare that the actual score of the movie is used in the trailer because most at the time the trailer gets released way before the movie score is written.
I don't know what Spielberg was thinking while creating this movie but iam a 101% sure he did play uncharted one and two!!This is like watching a uncharted movie with Tintin and Hadok(If thats his name!) other then Drake and Saluvan(Sally)!
"from 2 of the greatest story tellers of our time"...that is bullshit misleading...Peter Jackson & Spielberg are great film makers ..not story tellers, most of the films they made are based on stories created by other people...even if they were to say 2 of the greatest film makers...that would face heavy criticism..because they are powerful film makers out there...it is what i did not like about this trailer..other than that it is a good trailer, oh and the bike wheel clip at the end was wicked!
@lifewithjuan exactly but then it won't give you full credit to be classified as a story teller if you tell a story which someone else told you...for example Lord of The Rings is a great story but people know Peter jackson more than they know about JRR Tolkien even (though he died), many films are based on stories, myths, legends, comics, novels etc I would give full credit to the creator of the story rather than the film maker who adapted it for example Stan Lee> Sam Raimi
@GhostofTahok You still have to give Raimi at least some credit though for presenting Spidey in such a spectacular way that Lee couldn't possibly do through the power of comic books alone. But yeah, you're definitely right too.
I used to watch this show back in the days...man, but if it's Spielberg and Peter Jackson who is working on it. I have good faith that it will be a fantastic story
this movie looks awsome it looks the screct of the unicorn and the golden crab combined into one which is awsome. but i am already hopeing for a secquel involving porfesser calculus and mabye the 3rd movie about going to the moon :D
@hamedsamdi19972 Except Tintin did this way before the PS3 was even concieved as an idea.....so its a little more like Uncharted 4: Continued Tales of Tintins Lost Twin (fraternal of course)
