  • Also a tip for highlinghting, I tie off the strand I want to highlight and use pure sun in on a cotton ball and run it through the strand

  • When I lighten my hair, I use sun in but I use it a little differently. I first take a shower and then with my wet hair, I get a seperate bottle and mix one part sun in with one part water to make it less powerful. Then I blow dry my hair or if it's nice out I'll go lay out in the sun but after it drys, I wash my hair again but I only use conditioner. This makes it less drying.

  • I used sun-in last summer. I spent a lot of time in the sun and it definitely worked to lighten my hair. BUT my fine hair was.flippin. Destroyed. I was so naive and did no research. It is almost a full year later and i still have damage. No shine, no luster, and tones of fallout. My hair stylist told me to stay away from anything like this but i refused to listen. I am angry at myself for using this extremely damaging product. Ask yourself what the worst things are for you hair- Sun-Heat-Peroxi

  • i use sun-in and i think it is amazing! and i actually like how sun-in smells. Also i don't like how you're making sun-in seem horrible. I had really dark hair, practically black, and i used it and it my hair light brown... not red or orange -_-

The other one damages your hair really badly.. i know because my friend told me.

and i really like the results of sun-in , i would recommend it to other people.

  • Did you put a lot of Sun-in in it?

  • i use sunin

  • i have naturally blonde hair but it gets darker at winter so its like medium ash blonde right now, i dont want it to go to like platinum blonde, i dont want it to be a big difference just brighten it up a little, should i still do this? should i spray it all over my hair?

  • plus i hav really dark brown hair and my hair isnt orange

  • i use sun in and the sprayer works fine and i got it on my skin and it didnt bleach it and mine does NOT smell bad!

  • Ive been using fresh lemon squeeze juice for 6 months now and it looks like Ive bleached my hair but its not damaged at all...you guys should try it

  • I have dark brown hair, and I'm almost at a light medium brown. It works.

  • Sun In is the best. I love it. And I'm a brunette

  • I'd just like to warn everyone that these two products DO ruin your hair. I went to my hairdresser and they instantly advised me to stop using them as the effect was almost like someone's hair who had left bleach in too long. It makes the ends of your hair like elastic (about to snap off). I used these products for several months not knowing the damage it causes & now my hair has suffered the consequences. Lots of people think it's better than using hair dye & colouring, but it's so much worse!

  • I the John Frieda spray 2 times a week, maybe 3, and I just felt like it would coat my hair. I started to put Bedhead After Party smoothing serum on my hair, instead of a leave in conditioner since I ran out and that works as well. (: I love it, but I'm very careful with it. I make sure not to spray it in my bleached streak in my bangs.

Also, I use the John Frieda very blonde shampoo, I think that's what it's called? It's specifically made for lighter blonde hair and it helps tone your hair.(:

  • a lot of people on here are like "the john frieda spray, shampoo and conditioner are bad" but really it depends on your hair. john frieda makes my hair amazing, but thats just me...

  • @jamgirl121 have yu used ani of the sheer blonde products?

  • @uchihafanlover yeah, i've used the "go blonder" conditioner and shampoo, i used the john frieda for darker blond conditioner and shampo (the caramel to honey one ) and the go blonder spray. All these products are really good and i have honey colored hair, in between dark blond and medium/light blond. It does not damage my hair. All john frieda sheer blond products are amazing for my hair

  • there used to be this yellow gel called 'lightning gel'. it was awesome but they discontinued it. I think it was just pure hydrogen peroxide or something. lol.

  • Hun, to lighten your roots you can use a blow dryer to activate it :p

  • John Freida used to have a gel style sun in worked awesome left my hair so soft but ya they don't sell it anymore then now they have this spray i use it works great if you use it with there line of products the purple john freida shampoo and conditioner which eliminates brassyness its great.

  • Comment removed

  • hi! how often do you have to use sunin to make it work? i used it once but it didnt lighten at all...

  • Both of these sprays have small amounts of peroxide which isn't enough to lift red hair, light brown hair or anything darker so they only lift the hair to an orangey red color as you need much more peroxide to lift these colors to a shade of blonde. You must bleach your hair first, wash it out and then dye it blonde (double processing) for it not to be brassy. I've used both of these products and they will only ruin your hair as they are absolute garbage. The girl above has brassy hair

  • I used sun in on my medium blonde hair last year. It worked but it was really uneven (light on top and dark underneath. Just be careful to spray it evenly so it doesnt look weird.

  • i have dark brown, i had a red tint and i really like it :D

  • this bitch brought sun in with her in my car and it got everywhere -___________- i had to be in the car for 4 more hours with that smell

  • Just to ask is that your natural colour and you are very prett btw's :)

  • DO NOT USE SUN IN!!!

IT CONTAINS METALLIC SALTS, SO YOU CANNOT COLOUR YOUR HAIR UNTIL THE SUN IN HAS COMPLETELY GROWN OUT OF YOUR HAIR ELSE IT WILL REACT WITH THE PEROXIDE IN THE HAIR DYE AND YOUR HAIR WILL FALL OUT.

MANY CUSTOMERS HAVE COME INTO THE SALON I WORK WITH AND THIS HAS HAPPENED, THEY ADMITTED AFTER THEY HAD USED SUN IN.

  • @laurennhorn My hairdresser has said exactly the same thing after my hair practically dried out after using this product. I have complained to John Frieda themselves who DENIED that it has metallic salts in it After much discussion and attempts at fobbing me off they finally admitted that their product had damaged my hair. They offered to pay for my next hairdressing apt if I sent them an invoice, which was sent in sept, I'm still waiting for my cheque and they wont reply to my messages!!!!

  • @kmrjam They have also said that the product does not require any warnings on the bottles and that the damage on my hair is a result of using others products like bleech- even though the people most likely to use the product are those that bleech and dye their hair to cover up their roots LIKE IT SAYS ON THE PACKAGING!!!!!!

  • so what do you think it could be better if i have like dark-light brown hair??

  • heyy how many times a week do you use this product??? xox

  • John Freida has ruined my hair! Now too damaged to dye at all. Wish wish wish I'd never used it

  • sun in works soo good(: it makes your hair super soft and if you do it often enough or put enough in it turns such a pretty color:) if you dont do it often enough it could turn your hair like an orangy brass color so be careful.. :) but it works sooo much better than bleach:)

  • hi lily sorry nine

  • I have light red hair. BIG mistake using sun in. It wasn't the products falt for my hair turning a gross super oragne color but mine for not following the warnings. DO NOT use it with red hair (same thing happened to my friend who has dark brown hair with a bit of a reddish tint). However what I do blame on the product is it fried my hair to the point that sometimes aout a quarter of a hair would just fall right off. It was HORRIBLE and I only used it about once a week!

  • ummmmm my hair is a dark blonde / really blonde brown would that make my hair orange lol please REPLY :)

  • @mrsrachy6 Only if your hair is like really brown. Like medium brown and dark brown it will turn orange.

  • would it work on light brown hair some1 PLEASE reply?

  • I use john frieder and it's so good i don't use it every time I wash my hair though and I only use it on my roots blends so well and feels softer!

  • Do you straighten your hair everyday? I'm just asking because I want to really work on making my hair healthy and growing it out, but because I have damaged it so much in the past with bleach and because it is so short I can't stand the look of my hair without straightening it (I do use heat protector every time).

  • i used sun in and it made my hair reeely ginger

  • sun in works so much better!

  • Yeah, I love John Freida :) Works well and doesn't damage it. But it's so expensive :P Nice for a treat

  • i have used this be for and you know if you dont bathe in the sunin that wont happen, its not meant for you to soak your body in it. you dont need to cover up and shit its not that extream! i just think shes a litle messed up in the head because the smell is a little fun t but not horid!

  • DONT BUY THE GO BLONDER JOHN FRIEDA SPRAY, it damages your hair i ve had tones of breakouts and small parts of my frimmge is falling out its like bleaching your hair, especaily if your going to use heat afterwards like hairdryers and straightners my hair is damged from it, It was great at the start then eventually you can see the damage it does to your hair

  • @xEllieeCherryx I have use it for 5 months and my hair is super healthy. It is different for each person.

  • @xEllieeCherryx its done that to mee too :( my hair is a horrid colour now :(

  • @xEllieeCherryx you might just have an allegic reaction like i do to some hair products

  • @xEllieeCherryx Your hair is probably thin.... If you got thin hair then you shouldnt be using products like that.. things like bleach and these sprays are meant for thick to medium hair..

  • @xEllieeCherryx yea it depends

  • @xEllieeCherryx completely agreed with you it's dry and broke my hair also!

  • @xEllieeCherryx I agree! I'm s stylist & I get alot of clients that have me to get their hair fixed from the spray. I hope this girl's hair stays healthy.

  • @xEllieeCherryx if you used heat right after you apply, it is so, bad, it's the same as if you actually did that when you had the salon bleach on! (it's exactly the same, it is only less concentrated than those that mix with powder) When hydrogen peroxide reaches high temperatures it gets really unstable, and acts SUPER fast. I've done experiments with hair extensions and heat, the cuticule will literally be completely broken. People need to research about the things they use...

  • Ive used sun in for years and my hairs really healthy, but i want to go alot lighter. But every time i go to hair salon i ask if i could dye it and theyre like oohh nooo. its bad blah blah. I dont see how it is any worse then just dying/bleaching your hair.

Has anyone used sun in and then dyed their hair at the salon or used a box dye?? and did it damage your hair? thankss :)

  • @AliciaMusicOfficial i use it and i have darkish blonde hair and the sun-in brightens my hair really well and it doesnt bleach my skin

  • do you think i would be able use this in just my ends and get like a dip dyed/ombre look?

  • @brydieex13 Yess :) I use sun in

  • will it work on blonde/dark ish blonde hair?? reply soon please

  • @AliciaMusicOfficial

Hiya, i have dark blonde hair and have used sun in for years, some parts are really light and some are darker/brassy tones where ive used it less. It does work. But i would get john frieda toner to get rid of brassyness, its amazing.

  • Did you ever try sun in with citrus? I use that one and it works good for me but im a natural blond.

  • it only turns your hair orangey if you have red under tones, if you don't sun in will work great on your hair!

  • wow why is everyone being so horrid to you ?!

i was watching this whole video wishing my hair looked as good as yours!

i naturally have mid brown hair but i've recently had a full head of blonde highlights put in and then went over them myself about a month after with blonde again because they had faded, but before i went over them i used the go lighter john freider spray and it made my hair go a bit orangy! i think it was just because of my natural hair showing a bit and being pretty dark xx

  • OMG do u ever take pauses when u talk!??

  • would it give an orangey tint to my hair my hair is dirty blonde?

  • @sitdownspeakup fuck off.

  • my mum is blonde and used sun in - her hair went bright orange, not even like a red/orange, it went super bright orange!

  • Uggghhhh I tried to watch this but your voice is really annoying and you're just kind of ugly.....

  • THANK-YOU! this was like the perfect review i was looking for. i recently brought JF go blonder but i heard about the sun in and i thought that sun in would be a good product to make my hair go really blonde when i go to tunisia because obviously there will be alot of hot sun but im not going to do that anymore! Very helpfull video and great comparisson ~nia,ox

  • i buy sun in all the time. the pump is fine. never clogs. and your hair isnt even light. horrible example. youre just annoying. not irish

  • if u have dark hair use super sun in. if it comes out orange use extra light ash blonde hair dye. leave it in for an hour.

  • i was doing sections with this and was using my hands to keep the spray from my face, and after a few minutes my hands were itchy and looked moldy! the sun-in seriously bleached my skin

  • Same I'm Irish but I have really dark brown hair.

  • im half irish and i have daark brown hair.. you do no need red hair to be known as irish.. wow people are really dumb

  • @sitdownspeakup You should ashamed of yourself for speaking like that. I don't know why you think you are better then me because you live in Ireland, that doesn't take away from the fact I am Irish.

  • @krnmcvy Wow maybe you need to take your hate out on someone else. Just because you live in Ireland doesn't give you any right to be nasty because I said I'm Irish and have red in my hair. You are a hateful idiot.

  • @shelbyxbaybee but it doesnt mean that youve got red hair just because you're irish. thats so stereotypical and untrue.

  • @krnmcvy Some people who are Irish have re hair just because you live there doesn't mean that some people don't have red hair.

  • @shelbyxbaybee well done there really. just because you're Irish doesn't explain why you have red hair. that's the most stereotypical assumption ever.

  • @shelbyxbaybee dude wtf?! I agree with @kmmcvy just cos your irish it isnt the reason your ginger!! im asian, i wouldnt know but i have lived in ireland my whole life, i've seen people that are english having ginger hair! i believe that your irish and all but it isnt the reason of you being a ginger!!

  • @lulalu2008

pretty much any whiteperson with euro descent can have any color hair, blonde, red, brown, black.

in america, most of the time, the reason why someone has red hair is because they have irish or scottish (mostly irish) blood in them. she wasn't saying "everyone in ireland has red hair" she was saying she had reddish hair and said why that is. theres no reason for people to start criticizing her because she said that. "dude wtf?!" or "hateful idiot" or "inbred cunt" isn't necessary.

  • @MakeMeMediocre

and even if she did, how does that make her a hateful idiot? saying that someone has red hair isn't implying that they hate them. if anybody is being hateful it's 'krnmcvy'. anyone that takes red hair as an insult must have hate for it themselves.

  • @shelbyxbaybee dont listen to haters i think you have very pretty hair.

  • @shelbyxbaybee wow,i cant belive that person sed that,u seem like a positive person,hes a jerk

  • @shelbyxbaybee same problem I tired sun in a lot of times ended up red hair. Im half Irish my mustache is red and brown/blonde. yet my eye brows are brown its just weird. IRISH SHAMROCK FOR LIFE!

  • @krnmcvy .... actually it does. i'm a licensed cosmetologist and your background does have a play in the color of your hair and the undertones of your natural hair color, as well as what color it will turn when any type of color is applied. therefore shelby is correct- people of irish and nordic descent hold red and orange undertones in their hair and pink undertones in their skin. and to avoid any other commentary- other races also hold red undertones to their hair.

  • @krnmcvy Ireland has the second highest percentage. As much as 10 per cent of the Irish population has red, auburn, or strawberry blond hair

  • Sun-in works but it made my hair dry

  • i use the john frieda in the sun when i'm laying out and it works perfectly well!

  • where can you buy the John Frieda spray

  • @picklesandshoelaces any local drugstoreee

  • If your hair has sort of an orange tint to it already will the John Freda spray bring out the orange or lighten it?

  • I just got the sun in yesterday and i used it and it looks great soo far

  • i want to try the controlled lightening spray, but my hair is like a light brown with some honey-ish highlights. would the john frieda work for me?

  • i love how you accosiate being irish with having red hair, as if its genetically compulsory. i can safely assure yall it isnt :L great video though

  • ok so i am a brunette my hair is really dark and i want to get the ombre hair look ive heard that the john frieda go blonder would help me get that but u said its not good for people with dark hair, so i was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to get th eombre look without dying it and without it looking really bad since this is the first time ive died my hair

  • @lupycutie98 use lemon juice! i have brunette hair that has highlights in the summer but got really dark during the school year. i just straight lemon juice and spray it evenly throughout my wet hair and lay out in the sun. the changes are gradual, but look totally natural. i have dirty blonde hair now and i love it!

  • your voice is sooo annoying i couldnt stand it throughout the video!

  • @BurstingWithBeauty dont be mean!

  • 'I am Irish and I've always had a red tint to my hair' :L Brilliant <3 Thanks for the review :)

  • SUN IN IS THE DEVIL!

  • @MaryGoLightly1 IT TURNED MY BROWN HAIR ORANGE D;

  • FYI theres this thing called purple shampoo they also have blue shampoo and it realy helps with makeing ur hair not look orange if that spray turns it orange. So if that happins again u shuld try that, u can get it at sally's.

  • Where can I get it, not online or Walmart?

  • Sun In is SHIT. I use the Bed Head one and its good.. I mean there was a stage where my hair was orange ive been using it for about 2 years now and it looks like a strawberry blonde but with my brown roots i was blonde when i was a kid but my hair gor darker as i grew up so i dont know where I fall... If ur blonde yeah use it, if ur a brunette then theres definitely gonna be an orange stage

  • I like the smell of the Tropical Breeze…

  • hey love the vid just a question umm i have dyed my hair light then my natural blonde not to much but its noticeable so will tht work to?

  • I like Sun In Cuz I Like The Orange Tint ^.^

  • Were you born in Ireland doubt it .. And Irish people have a majority of brunette hair you are just Ginger XD

  • @DROPDEADsuzi why ask if you doubt it?

  • i started using the go blonder conditioner and it smells great i love how it makes my hair feel 8)

  • Does it work for bleached hair

  • To get even more even color, blow dry it & straighten it.

  • I have black hair and I use Sun In Tropical Breeze, and it hasn't turned my hair orange, nor red it turned it brown. And I got mine for $3 and mine doesn't clog or anything. It smells good to me.

  • I have the lemon Sun-In, and it smells pretty good.

If anybody has to choose, I advise you to choose the lemon! lol

Oh, doesn't John Frieda have shampoo too? I think I saw a commercial about that. lol

An another question. Are you Australian? you sound Aussie. :P

  • so would it work if your hair if it was gingery blonde (natural but my hair is ginger, but it's half blonde half ginger haha)? :-) x

  • If you colored or dyed your hair like awhile ago is it safe? My hair is still lightend on the ends of my hair but my roots are growing in and i wanna lighten themm

  • Yerr so pretty!!(:

  • Sun in works so good i used it when i wanted to be blonde and i would be blonder every time i use. but i stoped useing it and dyed it black anf know im trying to get it blonde again

  • Does the John Frieda one have bleach in it ? I didn't really wanna bleach my hair . Can u just get these products at a local drugstore ?

  • If I use Sun-In on my hair that's already been bleached and highlighted will it turn my hair green?? =/ That's what I've heard and I'm kinda scared to use it. Is this true?

  • @misssierra224 it probably won't turn green, but it will extremely dry ou tnad damagae your hair because you bleached it

  • what about dirty blonde hair?

  • @balletgirl2723 if you want dirty blonde hair you can put sun in in streaks or keep adding and scrunching, it works really well:)

  • @shelbyxbaybee

For lightening all of your hair, about how many applications can you do with the John Frieda spray before emptying the bottle?

  • On the John Frieda lightening spray...

I have dark auburn hair & it works a treat for me.

Thankfully it doesn't make my hair blonde, it makes it a lighter shade of my natural colour - basically lighter auburn, with nice red tones.

I'm actually using it to get a dip dye/ ombre effect & it's so easy.

So, in my experience (even if the bottle reads do NOT use on brown or dark hair) it works with any hair colour.

I would definitely reccomend it to anyone who wants subtle, easy colour.

  • i think the sun in smells good...? it worked fantastic for me and once i spilled it all over my skin and nothing happened. but i had the lemon. the only thing is that it doesn't lighten as well in the winter so i get a little bit of a line of demarkation.

  • do you think either of these would work with slightly red hair? my hair's kinda a combination between blonde and auburn and red soo not exactly sure what to categorize it as

  • sun in doesn't bleach your skin!

  • sun doesn't bleach your skin!

  • "I am irish" Yeah, right - like every "irish-american"

  • @adamaliabarnes I am Irish, I'm 25% and my mother is 50%. And I don't know what you mean by Irish American, just because I live in America doesn't mean I am American and have no heritage.

  • u talk fast

  • you said that the blow drier or straightener will activate the product but then you said that some of your roots you cant reach with the straightener so they're darker.. why don't you just blow dry your roots because itl be easier to reach

  • @WOAHdreammBIG I don't use a blow drier it makes my hair poof out too much and then its a pain in the butt it get my roots to lay right.

  • I've been using Sun-In for about a week, and although it hasn't dried out my hair at all, it has given it a bit of a ted/orange/yellow tinge. Especially in odd lighting. However my hair is fine other than that.

I am excited to use this other, product though. Especially since it lightens your hair instead of giving it an odd tinge.

  • I just use the spray the same way you do but for the hair really close to my head I just blast it with the blow dryer to lighten it. ^-^

  • I have both of these products.. i have had sun in for about 7 months and the Go blonder for about 2 months... I have naturally sandy blonde hair with strawberry undertones. I used the go blonder 3 times and now my hair is orange:( but when I used the sun in it turned my hair blonde...

  • can you use john freida if you have dark brown hair but like ALOT of highlights just to lighten them?!

  • whered u get ur jean jacket?

  • @ugglover234567 Its from American Eagle.

  • @shelbyxbaybee also how long ago did you get it? and how much was it? sorry for all the questions but im on a hunt for a cute jean jacket! i cant find one anywhere! :( ok thnks

  • is it a really dramatic change in color?

  • @SuperRachel22 Yes, my roots were looking quite dark because I didn't use it in a while and it really makes a big difference.

  • sun-in actually worked really well on my hair, it's lightened up so much without turning it orange and I'm naturally a light to mid brown, it didn't bleach my skin or anything and conditioned my hair, it felt so soft! :]

  • Lily is just soo cute =3 Lol, I love your hair color btw, Soo pretty!

  • Thank you so much for making this video

  • Please tell me were to buy John Frieda?

  • @harmonyofbeauty Most drugstores and I get mine at target.

  • do NOT use sun in.. it completley broke off the top layre of hair and i've spent the past year and a half growing it out.. didn't look good! It has chemicals that always lighten hair so once you wash your hair you don't wash it out its there to stay until it breaks off, or gets cut off- constantley damaging your hair. I'm experimenting with Go Blonder I use it just on my roots when and sparingly. I like the product, although i don't know if it doesn't obtain the chemical that is so damaging.

  • @waskokri , really? it worked perfectly for me...maybe u did it wrong!

  • @orangefreakygal me to maybe they used to much

  • @ItsCageBaby lol

  • you and your dog are so cute...

  • Soo when your hair grows back will your hair grow back natural hair colorrr?

  • @LaraAnn12 ya, on ur roots, but other than that, it doesnt just fade away, its permanant

  • @LaraAnn12 Yea, it can only change the color of the hair on your head at the time, nothing will change the color your roots grow in.

  • Where can I find Sun In? I've literally looked at all of my drugstores for it & its never there. It's almost as if they stopped selling it.

  • @misstemptingbeauty I saw it today at Wal-Mart

  • @misstemptingbeauty walmart

  • @misstemptingbeauty walmart

  • can you use them with bleached hair?

  • is it safe for color dyed hair?

  • @shelbyxbaybee no its not safe for colored died hair! it says right on the bottle!!!!

  • @thepuglove I have color treated hair and it works for me. And the bottle doesn't say that.
