  • G8 speech

  • I'm going to stop watching inspiring YouTube videos for one month.

  • I've tried being Son Goku and turning Super Saiyan for 30 days, I couldn't even do a proper Kamehameha, I feel I've been lied to and want my 3 minutes and 28 seconds back..

  • Hey guys. I am a highschool student and I made an event on FB. I'm doing this with 200+ others for the month of December! Add yourself and your friends to the Facebook event! Hurry it starts on December 1st! It is called the "30 Day Challenge" and it is a public event. Thank you!

  • I challenge everyone to go 'Non Speciesist' for thirty days. Eat whatever you like, double your cruel foods intake if you desire, but live your month as if all species deserve equal dignity to your own, beliving and living as though you are no more important than them in complete humility. At the end of the thirty days, go Vegan if still believe animals deserve dignity, to not be raped and bred to be eaten.

  • @DanielManahan

850 million humans live without access to clean water while liberals focus on the important things, such as the dignity of dumb animals.

  • I'm a novelist:)

  • I love Matt Cutts. Without him, google wouldn't be what google is today.

  • I don't really understand why people keep complaining about the intro of TED videos. You get so much valuable information from them, and all you can comment about is how you hate the first few seconds of each video. tsk tsk.

And seriously, it's not THAT bad.

  • Fuck these people TED, keep the music.

  • This is beautiful...!

  • This video is great! It motivates me to go out and change those nasty habits that I've always wanted to change. I'm excited to start some 30-day change plans! I also found a great online resource that helps people change called Change Anything. It helps you create an online change plan to successfully change in 30 days and to make it a habit afterwards. So check out the site changeanything, and use the coupon code "hope1" to receive a free 1-year membership to the site!

  • Sometime, things go fast.

Sometime, it's need a long maturation.

Maturation is the longer part of a life experience.

    Why ???

The younger you are, the shorter maturation is.

  • I agree with guy in the audience who laughed at 0:25. when he said "the great American philosopher Morgan Spurlock" Then I was speechless with disgust to realize he wasn't joking. Seriously? A speech about following a self-help book called "30 days"? Serious gag material right here. One of the worst TED talks ever given.

  • @ThePaperPineapple I see nothing wrong with the concept. What are your objections exactly?

  • Comment removed

  • good idea

  • america; land of the complacently cathartic caprice.

are we so wrapped in the slavery of political-economic-social stratification that change or aspiration have diminished into a lark we only look for in the little time we aren't locked away?

while change or aspiration have to start somewhere, and 30 days is as good a place as any, I can't help but feel the disingenuousness of the proposition: how we are to celebrate a false novelty that ought to endure organically--unhindered by artifice.

  • @xjustamem0ryx Why yes, of course we should never try to do anything new. You're correct. If it doesn't come completely organically and naturally, we should never, EVER do it. I mean, thank god no one invented unnatural computers for us to speak to each other on, and no one ever went to the moon. That would just be ridiculous. Thank you, justamemory, for pointing out the flaws in trying new things for a month to see if you like them. I mean, without men like you, where would we be?

  • @Syntheticbrawler

way to miss the mark completely. try reading it again and without blinders.

  • it might've worked for u, but my 30 day things end on max day 2

  • i already gave up sugar for 6 months.

you don't need it at all basically, carbs turn into sugar so eat some carbs and that's it

coffee actually tastes better without sugar, just add milk and enjoy the bitterness

  • @mazdaplz

Frenetic. You just added a different kind of sugar, which will result in similar glycemic load on your body - although I have to admit that it's slightly better than sugar.

  • @mazdaplz Really? I drink coffee but I dont like it without sugar.

  • @MoOtJeMan

i started putting both milk and coffee mate in it, to make up for the lack of sugar with straight up greasyness. worked pretty well! got used to it pretty quick

  • @mazdaplz I'll give it a try for a week. Thanks for the suggestion :p

  • @mazdaplz True that, i did the same, and with times the taste of food changes... you find sweetness in things u didnt expected, like in some nuts! and nothing better than a dark chocolate or sugarless coffee/tea

  • I'm going to change absolutely nothing. For 30 days!

  • @ApocDevTeam. I said to myself `do not read the comments because some negative loser will have written something `.

    Too late.

  • @meotaku2

I said to myself don't read the comments because some whinging self-righteous loser will have written something about negative losers (who are much funnier than the whinging self-righteous ones) writing something

    To late

  • Comment removed

  • @ApocDevTeam war, what is it good for? [..]

  • @ApocDevTeam I did that. Man my socks got crusty as hell.

  • But computer Scientists are much more awesome than 99% of the Novelists!

  • Guess he never tried working out, or trying to fix his lisp.

  • @0T3k0 Guess you didn't watch the whole talk?

  • @hyperbolaisagraph Guess he still looks fat, and still has a lisp. Yes, I did watch the whole thing.

  • Matt Cutts!

  • NaNoWriMo represent!

  • i will not watch any youtube for 30 days.

  • @iamthe7thwalrus im checking your page to c if you logged in for the next 30 days.

  • @iamthe7thwalrus Haha! Good luck with that, oh well.

  • @iamthe7thwalrus are you sure thats sustainable? lol

  • I'm going to do this! Wait... no I'm not

  • I need to get back into my old reading habits. I used to be able to read a book a week, sometime two. Now thanks Tony iPhone I only read one or two a month

  • I've been working hard at Japanese through an intensive program at Cornell University.

  • Make sure I practice music everyday, even for 30 minutes. No skipping!!!

  • This has actually been my philosophy in life for a while now. I love this attitude

  • imma stop smoking weed. nawww

  • Very cool.

    Bravo!

  • I'm gonna watch YouTube videos for the next 30 days.

  • He should spend the next 30 days getting rid of his man boobs.

  • So TEDtalks sound people how about it?!? ...for the next thirty days lower the sound for the intros and outros so that they are gentle on our ears ...letting the talks be truly the focus

    thank-you it'll be fun!!!

  • @gaiagale Absolutely. That intro music is way too loud.

  • How about a 30 second challenge? I can get behind that.

  • Perfect timing - Beginning of July.

Who here's going to try something new?

  • Concept stolen from Islamic Ramadan, trololol

  • How about a new intro for 30 days.

  • @WyldOrbit brilliant idea! ...certainly lowering the volume would be a treat for the ears

  • I'm so doing this. For the last 30 days i've given up smoking, for the next 30 days I'm writing a 50k word novel.

  • NaNoWriMo! I love it!

  • how convenient that this video came out on the 1st of July.

  • ok.. great... here I come with my 30day challenge...

    Need to finish my app...

  • challenge accepted

  • what a woss; this 30 days is for people with pretty boring life

  • ....What's wrong with being a desk dwelling computer nerd?

  • @kitty0tikara Nothing, unless you are not content with that. But yeah.. he´s being a little judgmental here.

  • @kitty0tikara There's more to life than a computer screen and a keyboard... these challenges I guess are supposed to help you explore the other dimensions.

  • @openuniverse2003 Matt Cutts is the head of Google's Webspam team. If you use Google, the reason you get a better and more relevant search result is because of him. And if you own a website, its his SEO work that can help you appear higher in the results. Someone who doesn't do their research is a LOSER.

  • @Jettox Google is a shit company with a shit product. There is a lot of evidence that the ads crap that Google runs is fraught with fraud and scamming, and from what I have read, Google's hands aren't as clean as it likes to claim. Also, I note on the Drudge Report that Google is facing a lot of lawsuits, etc., re its invasion of privacy (see Drudge Report for links). Instead of being a good corporate citizen, Google hires a dozen new lobbyin
