Leif, I should have known you already had this kettle. lol. I am still researching. I had the same concern about the rubber melting. Glad I found your video. I think I will go with the same mods, if I get the little pot. Hope you don't think I am immitating you on everything, but damn boy...you have some great ideas! Hahahaaa! Axe, saw, cookware...lol. It's the price you pay for being great, Leif. lol. Thanks again. ~Wolf
The Kettle is a good piece of kit. I used mine on a 5 week canoe trip this summer (Minn and Ontario) and was very pleased with the performance. I used either an alcohol or wood burning stove (They are both homade...a 'Penny' stove from 24oz Hine cans, the wood stove is built from a new quart paint can..so I dont have the problem with the handel. Do what you need to, to make it function properly in your kit.
Neat and tidy kettle, good mod's. I recognised that a coat-hanger was providing the handle, those wire cheap-o hangers get up to all sorts of uses and applications not just a replacement car radio AE !. 5X5 let's hear it for the humble cheep wire hanger !! : =))
Thanks for the mods. I have one of these and the orange coating melted mostly off tonight. A piece had fell and melted to the kettle. After it cooled it scraped off easily. So now I'm going to bend out the wire holders and put a bigger piece on it as you did. This is and awesome piece of kit and these mods will only make it better. Thanks
Then you know the handle is not much of an issue. The kettle goes into the pack on its side, the handle laying flat to the wall of the inside, well out of the way.
yeah yeahh i dont really think this is a big problem, hehehe,, as long it fit in the backpack, :0) i have a kittle i have use so much so the handle have rust a way, maybe i do the same you did on yours,
@SkogKniv I bought an MSR 1.1L stowaway pot instead of this one at my local store, but after one trip I'm wishing I bought the kettle. The pots were the same price so its not like I lost alot of money, but now I have to wait a while before I can get this kettle. I guess that's how you learn though, sometimes you buy kit you don't like.

Nice review.. What's the weight of it and how does it compared to the stainless steel one? Which one would you prefer?

dosen't theat coat hanger get bent when you put it in you pack? i mean thats a good 3 inches of extra weight and wire to get bent.

Weight? the hanger wire is lighter than the original handle. Also the handle folds flat on the wall inside the pack.
