The beef export to Korea is the SAME beef in the US...however, due to difference in dietary culture, Korea consumes parts such as intestines (not consumed in the US).
US test very little % of their cows. Infact they have very crappy system to test or track cows compare to countries like Australia. Wasnt it just recent that there was a beef crisis in US and they had recall 65 million killogram of beef?

The recall had nothing to do with food safety...it was because they were abusing cattle before slaughter. The recall was ordered after USDA officials said the plant did not consistently order "complete and proper" inspections of cattle which had lost the ability to walk prior to slaughter.
Such "downer" cattle are at greater risk of contamination by E. coli, salmonella or contracting mad cow disease, as they have weaker immune systems and greater contact with faeces than walking cattle.
Yet not a single piece of meat tested positive for anything and not a single person got sick from the meat. It was punishment for what you just said. Not from the beef. They don't "contract" mad cow disease from being a "downer". Being a "downer" is a possible .0999999% chance of being a result of mad cow. The "downers" that they are talking about were cattle that were find at the time of transport and were damaged after. They didn't follow procedures and they were punished.

The source is reality...most of the ground hamburger, hot dogs, and everything else that is not a steak or prime cut is from older than 30 months. So if you eat any of that it is most likely older than 30 months. A lot of the cattle killed in the US are over 30 months. The link that you posted does not work for me. The reason why Koreans are against US beef is that the new deal president lee made with US includes accpetance of 30+ month cows. In a year or so, it is illegal to use the beef from 30+ month cows to make dog food.

That's a trick US uses. Testing in US is very limited, 0.04% of the cows killed comparing to Japan who does test all cows after killed including blood test and other many different technics. When only 0.04% is tested, how can you confirm it's safe??? There have been 8 cases where killed cows had mad cow disease in Japan thought they don't feed animal food to cows in Japan. Now, imagine how many dows might have had the disease in US cows if they do testing on all cows.

They have the same system to test...they just have a lot more cattle. They do lack in tracking back to the farm the cattle were raised in I'll give you that. The recall had nothing to do with food safety...it was because they were abusing cattle before slaughter. Not a single person got sick from any of that meat and most of it was already ate before the recall came out. It was more to punish the company for animal cruelty and to set an example of what would not be tolerated.

The recall was ordered after USDA officials said the plant did not consistently order "complete and proper" inspections of cattle which had lost the ability to walk prior to slaughter.
Such "downer" cattle are at greater risk of contamination by E. coli, salmonella or contracting mad cow disease, as they have weaker immune systems and greater contact with faeces than walking cattle.

They don't "contract" mad cow disease from being a "downer". Being a "downer" is a possible .0999999% chance of being a result of mad cow. The "downers" that they are talking about were cattle that were find at the time of transport and were damaged after. They didn't follow procedures and they were punished.

The beef exported to Korea is NOT the same as ones consumed in the US. With cows under 30 month it includes several part that are banned in US because of th high vCJD risk. And they will be exporting cows older than 30 month which are usually used for giving birth and are more weak prone to diseas. 90+% of people in US consume beef from cows younger than 24month.

The source is reality...most of the ground hamburger, hot dogs, and everything else that is not a steak or prime cut is from older than 30 months. So if you eat any of that it is most likely older than 30 months. A lot of the cattle killed in the US are over 30 months. The link that you posted does not work for me. If it is banned in the U.S. they will not export it to any country. If a US company wanted to sell brains and spinal tissues they couldn't because they HAVE to take it out.

More than 95% of the cattle are slaughter in around 20~24 months, these are mainly USDA Select or Choice grades.
For the top quality steak grade...USDA Prime...the cattle are slaughter around 30 month...they have more marble fat...the marble makes the beef tender and flavorful..e.g.,all the Kobe Beef are slaughter around 30 month.
Less than 3% of the US beef are USDA Prime grade, about $40 ~ 60 per serving in the fine steak houses.

The reason why Koreans are against US beef is that the new deal president lee made with US includes accpetance of 30+ month cows. In a year or so, it is illegal to use the beef from 30+ month cows to make dog food.

Oh, and just to make it clear. The first cow that caused the first case of Mad Cow Disease was from Canada, not the US. Also, there are over 2 million Koreans in the US and not one has contracted Mad Cow Disease even though supposedly we're genetically more susceptible. In addition to that, there's been a total of 3 cases of MCD in the US and the 3rd one is still in question.
Koreans should think about something more pressing and much more epidemic like Avian Influenza.

BSE걸린 소뇌, 등뼈 먹으면 우린 BSE에 원인인 Prion때문에 CJD(Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease)라는 병에 걸립니다. 하지만 CJD는 대부분 BSE소를 먹어서가 아닌 다른 이유(유전성, 유전 돌연변이, 수술 )로 걸리는 희기병입니다. 소BSE랑 관련없이 CJD걸릴수 있는 가능성은 1/1000000. 그중에서 광우병걸린 BSE소 Prion에 CJD걸릴확율은 1/1000000보다 훨씬 적습니다. 얼마나 적냐하면, 미국쇠고기 먹어서 CJD(광우병)걸린 사건은 한번도 없음니다.

FTA is dangerous? How safe do you think Hanwoo is? US beef is safe. The only problem is the Politics that are being played.
Just over 200 people have died world wide of MCD since the 1980's. over 2/3 of those were in GB when it first came out. Even if you eat the meat from an infected cow you have a 1 in 10,000 chance of contracting the disease. you can only get it by eating the brain or spinal cord of the cow
More people die in 6 months from car accidents in ROK than have died from MCD in 20 years.

Sadly, the idea that you called "stupid" is true -- Koreans aren't getting the same quality beef than Americans eat. That is why South Koreans are mad and protesting against importing low-quality beef. You should do some research! They know more than you do. Do not put down people who are active on this campaign. This is matter of life and death situation in Korea.

There have been no cases of mad cow disease in America. Canada yes. No consumer of beef in America or Canada has contracted the disease.
I doubt if this video was produced by any American Korean women. This is just another way to injure America. Even if in a small way.
