@julimdrums Yes, her contemporary for Prix de lausanne was all about her artistry and not full of tricks as folks call them. She was awarded Audience Choice and placed 2nd overall there-so she got it right!. WBC required 2 classical variation AND another style highlighting what else the dancer excels in . . . Evidently, WBC judges/audiences appreciate broader interpretation of skills. She had already nailed the artistry of 2 classicals why not do something different? Viva la difference!!

@chromebiscuts I don't understand why you are so rude to other people on Youtube. There is no reason to be, someone asked a question and @LaDancePaws knew the answer. She has the right to answer them. She is not a stalker for following th dance world, I am a gymnast and love the art of dance. It is great to see young dancers like Hannah Bettes who will most likely be a professional dancer or a prima ballerina when she is older. You shouldn't be rude to people you have never met.
Hannah Bettes trains with Peter Stark in Tampa at the Patel Conservatory which is a school that is geared to making professional dancers. Google Hannah and you'll find several articles on her in popular dance magazines.
Anyway, I've met Hannah and taken a few classes with her. She's seriously an amazing dancer and I can see she has improved since I last saw her. Not the best choreography but I don't believe she choreographed it.
@chromebiscuts Um, just because I commented to more than 1 person, does not make me a stalker. Did I post on all her videos ever? Nope. I only posted here because I saw questions to where I knew the answer. Also, an immature person who was treating kind commenters as if they were evil people. Hmm. I think you're more of a stalker than I am as you are obsessed with whatever anyone says about Hannah and her teacher's choreography.
@chromebiscuts Oh, I forgot to mention that just because someone, like myself, follows the dance world in general, doesn't make me a stalker. If you think that defines a stalker, then you would be one too.
she = awesome song choice = CRAP choreo = with that song? bad! and i've done ballett for years and have seen some weird stuff but seriously... not tryin to diss the choreographer it's just my opinion
shes beautiful. stunning, her feet are gorgeous. but the movement was a bit too rushed. she should milk it more. really get all the movement, this song choice is slow, but the dance is fast. the movement should definitly be milked. otherwise, shes perfect.
I just saw that girl at the Prix de Lausanne and she was really amazing. Indeed she is suit for great choreographer and I don’t mean the one who create that choreography.
great dancer nd has the technique all the way, but choreography was a bit too much... One, i didnt really see a connection of movement... "what did it mean? why did your body do that move?". Two, I wished there was more of a dynamic in terms of how fast/slow she was moving. I felt like it just kept going and going and going, and if she slowed down or paused or whatever, it was at a typical part of the song (she slowed down/paused because the song did). Its more of the choreo that was a bummer.
The music and choreo could be better suited to her, deffinitely, but her technique and passion are amazing and evident. Her feet are beautiful and I was very impressed with the technique, especially hip placement and fouttes, seeing as a lot of dancers just throw their bodies around now a days at comps.
Hannah, ur absolutely stunning. Ur lines are flawless and... Well... There r no words for ur point. Your turns are so pulled up and your flexibility is amazing. Don't hate me for having one small correction, just don't dip ur leg in your second turns. Ur amazing girrrl!!!!
there were some truly beautiful moments in this piece--the moments where the choreography slows down and there are beats of rest. i wish it had not been so frantic. hannah bettes is unbelievable, as always. you can tell that, despite the choreography, she isn't all about technique but also feels the music.
Hannah is always amazing-those feet, extention, lines, center, control. This choreography does have a lot of things in it that one often sees at Competitions--I would agree that it isn't typical for YAGP choreography. Not a criticism just an observation. This might be because the choreographer was to show all the things that are amazing about the dancer and was less focussed on the story the choreography tells. This competition is rewarding the dancer not necessarily the choreographer.
@Bedazzelle coreographies have to show THE ARTIST.. a competition that isnt focussed on that is just a gymnastic competition.. or a circus. Ive seen Hanna being more artist in prix de lausanne.. But that's because in that event the judge ART and dancers as a whole.. all competitions must be like that..
People need to take this for what it is. This video is from the World Ballet Competition. The choreographer had a tall order to fill. The choreography has to fulfill the expectations of international judges AND demonstrate the dancer's ballet technique. I think that both the dancer and choreographer did a wonderful job!
The thing that has always bothered me with contemporary and lyrical solos especially is how much the choreographers want to squeeze into the music. This song is lovely, and the choreography is inspired, but with the two combined it doesn't work for me. At some points, it flows very well, but other times it looks like she is going in triple time or something. But as a dancer, she is insanely good.
she is absolutely incredible! her leg lines are just perfect, and she is so flexible, and surprisingly she can turn as well even if she has such flexible feet. they're probably insanely strong too! i wonder if her jump elevation is as good as everything else, and her performance quality, because apart from that she ticks all the boxes a ballerina will ever require just from watching this piece! where does she train?

there's a difference between flexibility and talent.. this girl has both, at the most extremes.
quick questions though,
1) shouldn't this be in the lyrical category? or is it considered contemporary ballet?
2) what was with the WEAK applause at the end?!?! respect, people!
