Actually whites and hispanics people do use racial slurs against other white people. White-trash, trailer-trash, cracker. Orange picker, berry picker, bean bandit. The are the words I here where I come from.
Not from successful whites and hispanics you don't! And, you hear it far less often from them.
The point I am trying to get at with the video is that a group of people who are already complaining about being mistreated about should do everything in their power to prove those who are mistreating them wrong.
As I try to work my way up in life the way I present myself has alot of effect on how successful I am. I try to dress for success. In this case talk for success.
This is part of the problem. Blacks have one set of standards for themselves on this issue, but expect the rest of us to live by a different set of rules. As my video says whites and hispanics don't use racial slurs when addressing one another, why should blacks. As long as they do they will be shooting themselves in the foot.
One of the first things I was taught when going into an interview is how to introduce/conduct myself. This plays a MAJOR role in deciding who gets hired/promoted.
Her debate wasn't so much over whether we should use it but why we use it. Growing up in my mother's home we were not allowed 2 use it but It means something completely different 2 white people & black people. 300 yrs of oppression & doesn't go away just because The Civil right act was signed. One of the outcomes of that was making this word, a word given to use by white people, a part of our culture. 2 take away the word would b taking away the power that was given 2 us on July 2, 1964.
