A sincere compliment. Many romantic poets, like modern pagans, find inspiration and meaning in nature. Bryant begins Thanatopsis with, "To him who in the love of Nature holds[...]," addressing the poem and it's exploration of death to those who find meaning and value in Nature. To the modern pagan heart, Bryant's exploration of death through those eyes is deeply beautiful and meaningful.
