Instead of WASTING money on clubs, check out Nick Faldo preset drill here on youtube. Its FREE and it works. It dropped me from mid 80's to mid -- high 70's in 18 months.
when I see the commercial for the new R11 driver , I think of this video. I laugh a little inside when I see someone plopping down $399 + tax at Dicks sporting goods on a new driver that isnt gonna help them one bit except be the envy of their friends pulling it out of the bag on the 1st tee
I have been playing for 30 years and there is a sucker born every minute in golf. It amazes me that people buy the new and greatest clubs when they will be just as good when they are used next year. Very rarely will I buy new clubs because they are always at inflated prices. My clubs are 15 years old on average and I bought most of them on ebay. All you need to know is what shaft you perform best with, what iron head you think is the best, and what woods you think are the best.
I agree wholeheartedly. Ive only been playing about 5 years and bought a used set of: PING's 2-9, Vokey 52,56, a Warrior 9 deg, a 3 wood, and a Hybrid 5. I bought a putter and boom set to go for many years! All that for 375 with a PING cart bag.
The clubs do not make the golfer, the golfer makes the clubs!
I know people to get the new 2009 1000$ clubs, then get the 2010 1000$ clubs a year later. Clubs should last until they're broken down to hit, not til you see fancier ones.
Wtf lookatthenoob??? Do u waste money on the newest set every year??? Do u even believe tht it helps ur golf improve??? The main factor in golf is urself not the clubs... The clubs r there to strike a ball.
Like Paul Goydos said, quote, "A 30 handicapper should'nt buy $1000 clubs, they should buy $300 clubs and take $700 worth of lessons. It's the Indian, not the arrow." (now to go buy that shiny new hybrid...)
@ruddeger76 i have a $4 set of clubs i got at a garage sale from a navy soldier. one club is valued at 250, so great deal! it works just fine, turns out i already know what i need. (pretty much)
well yeah the Big Bertha is like 330 cc and the r7 is 460. Of course youre going to hit the r7 better. Tech makes a difference but not going to give you a magic 50 yds to every shot. I think if anything golf balls have improved the most
try a 1982 driver versus a 2012 driver and see the difference.

its all about proper fitting! u need the correct shafts, club heads bent, extensions if needed and soo on.
i have the same clubs i started with, all ive done was switch out the shafts every once and a while.
i still play with my S59 with project X 6.0 shafts, Comp D2 driver Matrix Orizk shaft, and vokey 52,56,60 wedges, and my trusty scotty cameron
