  • Thank you! Not living in the Central area (I am a Granada resident) I hadn't seen a lot of these!

My personal fave is the Central Production at 7:53

  • i miss the old days so much </3

  • top stuff - thought i'd seen all central idents but there are a few here i haven't!

  • Oh the things one eager designer could do with some ident footage and a Quantel.

  • You know what really fucks me off? These megamixes keep on getting deleted and accounts banned for posting them. Who's actually trying to protect the copyright here? And if they think they're worth protecting why not put them out on DVD or something?

  • The 'moon' ident always makes me anticipate Spitting Image or Auf Wiedersehen Pet coming up!

  • tracklisting please ;-)

  • 33 years young and boy do I remember my roots! This truly is excellent for television lovers back in the day who paid attention to individual channels and idents - there's more to this 'trailer' than meets the eye - this has the potential to unearth a whole heap of memories - part of my childhood! :-) Cheers all

  • A fantastic package. But OMG, could you please put a VOLUME WARNING in the summary so I can remember to hit 'mute' whilst it's buffering?!

  • Central - The Masters Of TV Identification! Thanks for sharing!

  • EXCELLENT -A REMINDER OF WHY CENTRAL WAS SO GOOD BEFORE CARLTON GOT ITS HAND ON IT AND LITERALLY RIPPED THE HEART OUT OF ITV - CENTRAL WASNT MY REGION BUT IT WAS BY FAR THE BEST REGION FOR USE OF ONSCREEN GRAPHICS AND ITS LOGO WAS SO VERSITILE

  • Great to see these all again, i live in Nottingham so we had central sadly missed ....

No local news programmes ect.(except the BBC) Central gave us local programmes ect and ITV took it all way.FOR WHAT?.

  • MisterTrimble, I believe you forgot one - the frontcap used on Centra's revival of New Faces ;)

  • What you see in this two-part megamix is all I have in the way of idents, Aidan. There was more footage on the DVD that I took them from, but they were the 'GOOD MORNING', 'NEXT' and 'TOMORROW' type animations from the CGI "cake" era.

  • @MisterTrimble I'm so sorry if I upset you in any way. Your reply makes you sound as if you were slightly wound up by my comment.

  • @AidanLunn No, you didn't wind me up in any way, Aidan. As I said, excluding the 'Next', 'Tomorrow' and so on CGI animations used during the cake era, this is all I have. In other words, if the 'New Faces' frontcap had been on the DVD, I would've included it in the montage.

  • I really do miss Central

  • Also, voices of some of the great Central announcers like Uncle Mike Prince,Gary Terrza,Helen Lloyd, and the super pair of Paul Vazey and Ted May.

  • Brilliant compilation. Some real treasures here which I've not seen online anywhere else before. I grew up watching Central, and their presentation was always excellent. This really brought back some memories. Thanks. :-)

  • fantastic. I live in Granada region, but used to get a weak Central signal and I remember the long idents around 130 onwards...well done for bringing back good memories

  • These are probably my favourite TV idents of all time. I never knew what that globe thing was supposed to be but there was something wonderfully weird about it at the time. They would never allow something like this to be broadcast nowadays though, there needs to be more of a concept behind idents these days rather than just animating the logo in various ways.

  • @KRPTV The globe thing you mention, it was billed in pre launch promotional campaigns as a UFO, yet was officially called the 'Moon' ident. The concept is that a circular object visually represents the word Central, splits in two to represent the newly split 'Dual' region, then comes together to once again form a unified entity, which represents that the region itself is still united despite being split.

The dark shadow on the left (later colourised) is meant to resemble the letter C in Central

  • Brilliant

  • Fascinating early 'cake' presentation here. And interesting pitch variations and filled out music in those 'moon' idents.

I lived in the Central region throughout it's entire reign. There were hundreds upon hundreds of ident variations and accomanying presentation pieces.

Brilliant upload. Really enjoyed watching it.
