Awesome, I finally found a video with good quality. I'm thinking about trying this recipe out soon with either marinara sauce some homemade mango salsa. Do you eat anything on your tostones?
My mom used to make these back in africa ,i have been looking for an alternate version to deep frying them, and this is awesome. I wonder if just baking them right of and smashing them will work. And yes the best plantain to use is green or half green. Don't use the ripe ones.
@MireillaWinters You have to place them in the stock first to soften them. If you smashed the plantains raw to would fall apart. Glad you liked the recipe.
perfect. Love the cooking method. I will pan fry with a small amount of oil after I boil them, and rub them with freshly minced garlic, chili peppers, and make a sweet chili, rice vinegar and mustard dipping sauce.
Thanks, I love platanos, maduros and tostones. I have never made them before because I rather not fry if I can avoid it. I was thinking to try to cook them other ways but was to cautious because I dont want to have a bad batch of tostones. You have given me courage to do this.
THIS IS AMAZING! I love tostones, I'm from venezuela but live in Canada so I'm lucky if i find platanos at the supermarket. I wil most DEFINITELY try this! I just subscribe to your channel and I'm excited to try out these healthy recipes!
o no se llama tostones, se llaman patacones, (ecuador ). que no se les olvide que eso se invento aca. y ademas haces vueltas para unos simples patacones, que ni se preparan asi
No I don't know the calories in this. I hate counting calories, I use the portion method to stay in my parameters. I have video on my channel about portion control using your hands to measure.
I tried this recipe and it came out horrible. Weird because I really know how to cook very well. This recipe doesnt really work

I made these except I microwaved a whole plantain (slit the skin lengthwise first) instead of boiling. Came out great.
