  • Galatians 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

1 Timothy 4:1 “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;”

2 Timothy 4:3 “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;”

  • Great video. The gospel of Jesus must be carefully guarded from heresy, just as the apostle Paul demonstrated. Nicely done.

  • (Luke 12:50-53)“Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division. For from now on five in one house will be divided: three against two, and two against three. Father will be divided against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”

  • (Matthew 10:34-36) “Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man's foes shall be they of his own household.”

  • This show saddens me. If these guys spent less time adding to their heretic list and more time loving like Jesus, I think they would experience the fullness of life he came to offer.

  • i believe it was more about bringing peace and restoring relationship and glory to Himself. THE PRICE WAS DEAR. Why do you fight fight fight?

  • I cannot describe how disgusted this show makes me. The people responsible for this independent-thought-bashing trash should be ashamed of themselves. Absolutely despicable.

  • Kingdomuploader-weren't you listening? The whole video was about the good news and the gospel. Jesus died for US!!!

  • Todd; i only hear you bashing others convictions and beliefs; i do not see you proclaiming the good news yourself; what's up with that?

  • Well then another question to the open-minded poster:how does it HARM "YOUR marriage" if some wanted even more legal marriage options with, say, their siblings, or their children,or to have polygamous marriages, or "marry" animals or consenting 9 years old (it's alleged Muhammad did). How can U object?

Answer: It doesn't ! Obviously, though society ( via laws) has rights to establish rules & control lives & restrict choices - this is what is meant by 'institution' -Conditioned freedom under law.

  • Did the father of the prodigal son kill a chicken before he forgave his son? Did he beat up his innocent wife to satisfy his righteous wrath? Or did he simply take the pain into his own heart?

The innocent blood the father shed was his own.

Christ is the revelation of God's pain at our hands, and God's forgiveness. Christ doesn't change God's mind towards us; he reveals it.

  • @puddleglumswager-- No, he didn't but that's because that was not Jesus' point in this particular parable The illustration of this parable was that the Father so completely loved his son that his love was unfailing and indestructible..But here's the key- we are talking about this man's son/child. That IS a critical distinction because Jesus makes equally clear that NOT everyone is a child of God. He blatantly called the false, hypocrite leaders children of the devil. No way Jesus is univeralis

  • @shieldsff We are all sons and daughters of Adam, and Adam was the son of God. ("Son of the devil" is hyperbole. Jesus called the same people "snakes and vipers". I assume you don't take that literally as well.)

As for universalism, Jesus said, "If I am lifted up, I will draw (drag) all men to me."

He also said, "All that the Father gives me will come to me." So then. What has the Father given his Son? A few things? A remnant? No. He has given him ALL things in Heaven and Earth.

  • Protip: It helps to pick an advocate who is not arrogant and self righteous. Bart Campolo seems the far better man in comparison and the wretched man's arguments seem weak and vindictive.

  • whats really sad is that you have taken what Bart said "out of context".. Basically enless you hear the entirety of what he said , your just isolating a "sound byte" and making a judgement. Why are people so frightened about someone not agreeing with them [especially fundamentalists] on scripture. Read Romans 14. Why do Christians want to follow Jesus but they dont practice the religion Jesus taught? His teachings, he came to show us the way, and die for sins but sins isn't the only reason!!

  • We should all be glad that we have Todd to judge the world with a book that was written 3000 years ago...Talk about worshiping an Idol the bible's his idol with thousands of errors and contradictions. and not even knowing who wrote the bible.....pathetic.....

  • "A touch of snarky in it" ?? Yeah, more like a touch of evil. Bart Campolo will burn.

  • The one thing I disagree with in this video is referring to Tony Campolo as the "nicest Heretic you'll ever meet." Tony Campolo is possibly one of the most evil men of our time. No, he may not be a serial killer, but at least a serial killer doesn't make sure that his victims spend eternity writhing in agony in a lake of fire. Tony Campolo does this when he convinces malleable minds of his false teachings. And his son is no better.

  • "God wants to forgive you, but He can't forgive you unless he kills somebody."

The only intelligent thing this Bart guy had to say. Too bad he didn't mean it.

  • When I was a young boy and I acted inappropriately, my father would use a kitchen knife to cut our puppy, Speckles. It was only after Speckles had bled and suffered that my father could forgive me. Some thought we were strange, but they had not read Leviticus 17. There must be blood for the forgiveness of sin. I wish dogs could read. Then Speckles would have understood. But now its a bit to late for him.

  • this guy bart is a idiot

  • who is the real snarky one...i vote it is this guy..major snark and smart alec

  • God's justice is mercy

  • so your God does back flips when some one dies. I don't want your evil God.

  • That Bart Campolo would twist scripture into his own image as to what he thinks is acceptable is disturbing. We forgive because God has forgiven us. God, however has no sin that needs forgiving. He cannot violate His own justice. Therefore, His justice must be satisfied either through the sinner or the substitute being punished. The very fact that the Gospels devote so much space in their books to the events around the crucifixion must mean that this event is THE message of the gospel

  • @digitalclock ...

sure. okay. yes, the event (of the crucifixion, and, oh yeah, the resurrection, that's kind of important too) is THE message-- the Message to BELIEVE.

    however,

if Mr. Campolo(s), Jr & Sr., are taken IN CONTEXT; you'll find that they l-o-v-e to stress the APPLICATION of believing the Message of Jesus.

and that is: "To become partners with Christ in helping the poor, raising the dead, setting captives free". Jesus' was the firstfruit of OUR death and resurrection too.

  • I wonder if anyone has ever sat this smug sarcastic man down and explained to him that people like him are the reason so many folks today hate Christians...

  • @beckiohead And yet muslims are the one blowing up buildings and killing people, and you hate Christians? Umm?

  • Bart's message at Pilgrimage was right on! You may not like the sin but we must love the sinner.

However his other speaches do test the values of the Bible.

I agree that God is Love because it tells us so in the Bible, so why do we hold true these passages and ignore those that we don't like? (1 Corinthians 6: 9-10)

  • alienation then go ahead, I met the guy this morning and I can tell you this video doesn't tell the whole story, oh, and by the way, unless you are perfect, what right do you have to rag on other people geniunely trying to help this world?

  • @filmjunkie998 pilgrimage?

  • @darthdude92 why do you ask?

  • @filmjunkie998 just wondering if you were at pilgrimage this year. he spoke there about gays. upset a good number of people lol.

  • excuse me guys, sorry if all this intoleration of a religion that is tolerate of all (or should be) is ruining your day. what you don't know is that Christianity isn't about being right or wrong, its about love, it says in the bible, literally, that God is love, so what do christians believe in exactly? love, so a real christian doesn't care for stupid debates like this, this is a sorry excuse for a video, if you want to make fun of what founded this country, pilgrims escaping religious

  • How's about? You take that rake and see if you can find verses from the Old Test about God murdering innocent children or allowing innocent children to be murdered.

  • Some people just can't handle hearing the truth! The delivery is not what;s important its the message.Todd clearly points out where Campolo is WRONG.

  • This guy is a joke. He's the reason why I hate most Christians. And I believe in God. The lack of logic or understanding he displays is sickening. People like him make me sick. I agree with Campolo a million times more than I do with people like Todd Friel.

  • this guy has to quit preaching how others are so wrong. the bible talks about correcting each other in love. now i dont agree with campolo's thoughts on Jesus, but i dont agree with this guy harshly condemning him. its not his place, but God's. it sucks that the true "Christ-like" Christians have to make up for guys like this.

  • its this mans approach - he is so mocking and rude. where is the humility and grace? Does he think he has got it all right? maybe he ought to take a step back from the judgement role he is so quick to adopt. we all have to make money but this is a sad way to do it. throughout the ages men and women have got doctrines wrong - but God can see people's hearts and many of us will get things wrong too. Lets support each other as we try to best of our ability with God's help to understand His truth.

  • I love how this guy wears a nice suit and the fact that there is like 3 HdTVs in the background. And how he has his own radio show. I wonder if he lives in the ghetto.

  • Comment removed

  • God does not exist, and the bible, a historical text, is used here as a source of division and argument. But then again, religion is one of our nation's greatest money-makers. Getting rid of the bible would put a lot of people, including this host, out of a job. Maybe then he could focus his talents and energies on real problems instead of babbling on and on about some religious nonsense.

  • lol...this guy is a Glenn Beck wannabe. Try harder next time, Todd Friel. Bart Campolo is one of the few Christians who sounds even slightly rational.

The screaming and jarring camera angles combined with shouts of "There must be blood for the forgiveness of sins!" is a whole new brand of Christian crazy.

It's Christians like this that make me glad I'm an atheist, lol...

  • The guy in the video CANNOT get anymore annoying!!!

  • you obviously didn't watch the rest of the video. jesus came to bring redemption to a broken world. a world full of poverty and injustice. so when people say that Jesus ONLY came to "die for our sins", they are missing so much more. yes, jesus came to "die for our sins". but why? so we (the church) might be the continuation of his redemptive work.

you call yourself a christian, yet you bash another christian who is obviously living a life of significance and service.

    go read john 13:34

  • @emartin5 Jesus' redemptive work was finalized when He said "it is finished" on the cross (John 19:30). We can't add to His work of redemption & Jn 13:34 is not saying we are to continue in redemptive wrk. To answer your question as to why did Jesus die for our sins? Jesus did so to redeem man back to God per the separation per the curse of sin. God redeemed us through His Son to fulfill His purpose - so that He could be our God and we could be His people Revelation 21:3; Ezekiel 37:27.

  • @WadeCDavis1

We can't add to his work of redemption? Go read Matthew 28:18-20. If I'm reading that correctly, doesn't Jesus tell his disciples to "go"? How else to do you expect this messed up world to get better? The answer is the church being His hands and feet.

I told you to read john 13:34 because you are obviously a "christian" who takes pleasure in bashing other Christians....that's unfortunate.

campolo's message calls the church to act on behalf of God....that's not a sin.

  • @emartin5 "Go read Matthew 28:18-20. If I'm reading that correctly, doesn't Jesus tell his disciples to "go"?" Yes, but do u know what else it says? "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me." - we are simply carrying out what has been commanded of us. God chose the foolishness of preaching to save lost men through the gospel but it is His plan of redemption & out of His loving kindness, He allows us to have a part in it but to say we are adding it?

  • @WadeCDavis1 We are definitely participants in God's plan but to say we are adding to His work sounds very odd to me and I would challenge you to find scripture where it truly says something like this - something that is not taken out of context, etc. The gospel is the power of God for salvation to anyone who believes (Rm1:16) so if we preach and men are saved, it is the power of God saving them, not us...we aren't adding to the kingdom b/c we r doing what we were tld to do.

  • @emartin5 To add to what I was saying ab out doing what we're told to do; we're given the perspective that we are to take when we do what we're told to do in Luke 17:10 - "So you too, when you do all the things which are commanded you, say, 'We are unworthy slaves; we have done only that which we ought to have done.'"

  • @emartin5 How else to do you expect this messed up world to get better? The answer is the church being His hands and feet.

This messed up world isn't going to get better; it's going to burn up! Everything in it is going to be destroyed. We were never commanded to make the world a better place; we were commanded to preach the gospel so that lost men may be saved & God may be glorified. This world is going to pass away, we shld b putting our trust in God that abides forever (1Jn 2:17).

  • @WadeCDavis1

so i guess there's no point in living anymore if the world is just going to get worse and worse?

what about the kingdom of God? Jesus brought forth a revolution of love to this earth. "our father in heaven....thy kingdom come thy will be done ON EARTH as it is in Heaven". Heaven is to be brought TO earth. I think it's pretty obvious that we have to try and make this world a better place....a place that mirrors heaven. if not, then what's the point of all of this?

  • @emartin5 so i guess there's no point in living anymore if the world is just going to get worse and worse? We are to serve in obedience out of our love that we have for Him that loved us first irrespective of what His plans are pertaining to this world/earth. We aren't supposed to be fixated on the temporal but to be on the eternal; see 2 Corinthians 4:18.

    Grace & Peace,

    Wade

  • @emartin5 what about the kingdom of God? "our father in heaven....thy kingdom come thy will be done ON EARTH as it is in Heaven". - What about it? Don't worry about God's will being served on earth as it is in Heaven, please see Acts 2:23.

  • @emartin5 I think it's pretty obvious that we have to try and make this world a better place....a place that mirrors heaven. if not, then what's the point of all of this? 1Corinthians 1:18-31 will show that man's wisdom is foolishness to God & we don't come to know God thru our own wisdom. We R to love our neighbor & in that we wld make the wrld a better place but also keep in mind Jesus said we wld always have poor (Jn12:8) & He didnt tell us to try to "fix it".

  • @emartin5 "told you to read john 13:34 because you are obviously a "christian" who takes pleasure in bashing other Christians....that's unfortunate."

If I'm not mistaken, I think you just bashed me which is what you are accusing me of doing. It's not hatred and bashing to point out faulty teaching and the teachers who teach accordingly...a large portion of Pauline epistle does this very same thing.

  • @WadeCDavis1

    and another thing:

why do you think there is so much evil in this world? it's because people like you and me choose to turn our back to it and do nothing about it.

Jesus did not ONLY come to die for our sins....you have to hear me on that. so many people think that's all it's about....IT'S NOT.

There has to be a response to that salvation. And that's all that Bart is saying. He is simply saying that we MUST respond to our salvation.

  • @emartin5 why do you think there is so much evil in this world? it's because people like you and me choose to turn our back to it and do nothing about it. - There is a hint of truth to this but the Bible is full of passages where Israel was called to repent & they didn't & continued in evil so to say evil is here b/c we aren't doing anything is a real stretch; the law is written on hearts & conscience bears witness (Rom2:15) so people know better, they practice evil b/c they want to, etc.

  • @emartin5 "Jesus did not ONLY come to die for our sins....you have to hear me on that. so many people think that's all it's about....IT'S NOT." Given in the light of 2Cor 5:15 I wld agree; "and He died for all, so that they who live might no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf." Jesus died for our sins so that we may live for Him...this is a life of obedience we are called to live in to carry out His will; not ours to make the wrld a better place.

  • @emartin5 excuse me, but I don't think he wants earth to be perfect, that viewpoint is super-flawed..I mean unless you're perfect, He wants us to show his LOVE to this world, not legalism, but to sit here and say that we should attempt something so stupid is itself ignorance, its not about right or wrong, its not about the "Code" that has caused so much argument not only religions but even between Christians as well, it is about love as God is love (1 John 4:8) and thats what its all about guys
