HOLDING the power button in order to shut down causes great damage to your hard disk. Also other parts of your computer might stop functioning because when you hold the power button power gets cut off, but your parts aren't ''allerted'' by your memory yet.

When you turn off your PC like this you can in fact damage ALL of your components. They aren't prepared to shut down and all of the sudden lose voltage. The worst that could happen is a part actually ''exploding'' but that barely happens. overall it just slows down your HDD because unprepared shutdowns cause the data to ''get stuck''.

holdin down the power button and waitin for the system to shut donw instantly is a bad idea cos windows will think that something is wrong & on occasions will come up with chkdsk. it happened to me cos i kept doing it cos my laptop kept freezing up!! do it @ ur own risk. pressing toe power button quickly without holdin it in will make windows shut down successfully

Right click on it, select properties, then shortcut. Go to shortcut key and assign Ctrl + Alt + S to it (or whatever you want)

Depends on if you hold the button in or just press it once and release. If you press it once, release, and have the power options set how the video shows, then the computer goes through the same shutdown mode as pressing the windows icon and then shut down.

It is not guaranteed to shut down all the time. Programs will still pop up and ask you if you want to save; however if you save and close any open programs and then press the power button, then the computer will shut down. (Unless, for example, anti-virus, firewall, chat, or other tray programs are being stubborn, then you will have to wait at least three or four minutes.)
