The more I watch Lanny's matches from the 80's the more I realize he was wasted in the WWF. Great worker working with a true professional; Terry Funk. Fun match!!
great professionalism by two great workers...you see how Funk really spotted Lanny and held on to him for as long as he could when he suplexed Poffo over the top rope. This is true wrestling, not the garbage we see nowadays. What in the world happened to Vince McMahon to let wrestling turn away from this and into what it is today? Oh, wait....I know: Money. Sold his soul for money..literally!
I truly believe in my heart, that wrestling peaked already in the 80's and 90's. That's when it really went mainstream. Vince wants to stay on top, so he literally sold his soul for money and ratings. He did ruin the business, I agree. He took the mystery and magic out of it. But that's what money can do to a person if they do not have their feet firmly planted on the ground....and morals.
Totally agree, one of the best matches ever from either Poffo or Funk. A great example of how a match can have a very decisive finish (Lanny gets put to sleep and branded by Funk) but showcase a lot of moves by both workers for over 15 minutes and not be the typical jobber squash.

Lanny was easily well versed in the business to make Vince money himself.
However, it did quite work out that way since there was so much talent in the WWF during Lanny's latter '80's run.

If Vince Sr. had known what Jr. had in mind. He'd never let him have the biz.
Vince has RUINED wrestling. It was
obvious, not long after he took over,
that he would ruin it.

Money can be VERY evil. He did take the mystery out of it. Its sad that TNA is doing
the same thing.

Wow! What a great match from 2 great workers. I think both were literally hurt in this match and surprised Funk took so many bumps from the Leaper.
