@cfaulc Right and it just so happened they played in their backyard not only in 2007 but also in 2003. And all the bowl games are in the South great place for the SEC to have them. They need to have at least a couple of them up North for that nice chill weather then we'll see how great the SEC does. Ask Miami they a Southern team and didn't fare so well against Wisconsin last season they were freezing and it was only 50 degrees. By the way watch out for Oregon.

Utah is the future of college football, Alabama is mostly in the past. Alabama is getting better, because they're playing more of a WAC-MWC style of ball. At least PBB would be proud to see his team can adapt, I think as long as Saban is there you'll still be a regular force in the playoff era that is to come.

SEC is the best conference, but enough with the incessant proclamations. SEC never wins Capital One Bowls either. Most conferences are pretty close to the SEC, and teams like Utah 08 would do VERy well (10-2 at least) in the SEC. This isn't the NFC east, folks.

If anything UF could've been playing for a second consecutive NC if they didn't lose against LSU or Auburn by a total of 7 points. But things happen for a reason and you can't win them all or even be the best all the time either. Upsets like this don't happen odften but they do happen. I can't wait till 2011 to see how the new conferences turn out. If anything with USC having been banned for 2 seasons and scholarships reduced, Utah has a chance to take advantage of that and make a statement.
The SEC is the place to be until someone can knock us off our pedestal. As for UF losing to Michigan in 2007, UF had mostly sophmores and freshmen playing that year, absolutely no experience compared to that if the Michigan Wolverines which were full of experienced seniors. Oh and Tebow had a few injuries that year. Not making excuses, just making a point that injuries happen and so do upsets.

Texas would've lost to Bama even with McCoy. Bamas defense in 2009 was twice as good as it was in 2008. Bama won't be that good in 2010 though, McElroy has gotten pretty lucky so far, McElroy is a horrible QB bar none. With half of their defense gone and having McElroy as their QB will cause them to lose atleast 3 games in 2010. Brantley is a much better QB than McElroy is and will have no problem stepping in to replace Tebow. Just you wait and see.....
I'm not saying TCU and Utah are not any good, in fact they are, but if they played teams like this weekly would they be undefeated or even have a winning record? And as for LSU playing in the superdome it's not their fault the BCS champ game just happened to be in New Orleans that year. What were they supposed to do, just all of the sudden pull up stakes and move the game at the last minute? I can't wait for a playoff system then the SEC will really get to show their horsepower.

@cfaulc Right and it just so happened they played in their backyard not only in 2007 but also in 2003. And all the bowl games are in the South great place for the SEC to have them. They need to have at least a couple of them up North for that nice chill weather then we'll see how great the SEC does. Ask Miami they a Southern team and didn't fare so well against Wisconsin last season they were freezing and it was only 50 degrees. By the way watch out for Oregon.

Utah is the future of college football, Alabama is mostly in the past. Alabama is getting better, because they're playing more of a WAC-MWC style of ball. At least PBB would be proud to see his team can adapt, I think as long as Saban is there you'll still be a regular force in the playoff era that is to come.

Bama was a great team in 2010. I'm just saying TCU would have a tougher time defensively w/ Texas or Boise St because they are pass oriented offenses. TCU would of had a better chance against Alabama because of their ability to stop running teams. McElroy is a smart player. But if he had to pass 65% of the time to win a national championship he could not do it. It would have been a great coaching match up. Texas has a pass oriented d-fense. If anything UF could've been playing for a second consecutive NC if they didn't lose against LSU or Auburn by a total of 7 points. But things happen for a reason and you can't win them all or even be the best all the time either. Upsets like this don't happen odften but they do happen. I can't wait till 2011 to see how the new conferences turn out. If anything with USC having been banned for 2 seasons and scholarships reduced, Utah has a chance to take advantage of that and make a statement.

The SEC is the place to be until someone can knock us off our pedestal. As for UF losing to Michigan in 2007, UF had mostly sophmores and freshmen playing that year, absolutely no experience compared to that if the Michigan Wolverines which were full of experienced seniors. Oh and Tebow had a few injuries that year. Not making excuses, just making a point that injuries happen and so do upsets.

Texas would've lost to Bama even with McCoy. Bamas defense in 2009 was twice as good as it was in 2008. Bama won't be that good in 2010 though, McElroy has gotten pretty lucky so far, McElroy is a horrible QB bar none. With half of their defense gone and having McElroy as their QB will cause them to lose atleast 3 games in 2010. Brantley is a much better QB than McElroy is and will have no problem stepping in to replace Tebow. Just you wait and see.....

@wecliquetoo It's true, USC has dominated the PAC 10 in a fashion that it's impossible not to admire, and they seemed unbeatable the first half of the decade.. Your loyalty in the face of sanctions and a coach cutting out of town is also admirable. I know what that's like, being an Alabama fan.

@2229lionman TCU would have got ran over. TCU plays cupcake teams. Come on over to the big 12. Oklahoma, Tech, Texas, and maybe even Oklahoma St on a good year. You can still have your cupcake teams, like Baylor, Iowa sate, Aggies, etc..

BUT the current Utah, TCU or BYU teams would beat Tech, Ok St or teams like Missouri any day of the week. REALITY CHECK...TCU beat OU in Norman 2006 and BYU beat OU last year with Bradford playing 3 quarters. I'll stack our cup cakes against your cream puffs any Saturday next fall. @yellowbellyslim Yeah, TCU is great. Since they lost to Boise St. The Big 12 is the second best conference in CFB in the last 3 years. Also who cares if it wasn't a blow out. Doesn't matter if they lost by 7, or 41. TCU still lost, and look at the preseason rankings. They still have Texas over Boise St. Teams in the MWC, and the WAC get no respect. Good for Boise St for moving to the Pac 10, but until TCU moves to a better conference they won't get any respect.

@Saberek Funny thing is I heard the exact same thing when they went down to Oklahoma last year, put the Heisman winner on his ass, ruined the season of one of the pre season national championship favorites, and handed them their asses. What did I watch saturday night? A team ranked about 90 something out of 120 FBS schools go into the 7th ranked team in the country and barely lose by a touchdown on the last posession. Do you even know where Utah State is? Lol your conference is OVER-RATED.

Wow BYU can beat a team that lost its O-line. Good for you. Ohio St is most likely the only team not from the south that will win a Nat champ in the next decade.
Yeah I've been to Utah a dozen times. It's in Logan Utah. BYU is in Provo, and it's like an 30 minute drive from SLC. Don't quiz me.

@silverblade43 TCU beat Clemson at Clemson in a game where it rained about 8 inches. Made it impossible to for TCU to pass and they still won. Clemson is a running team, weather favored them. Oooooh yeah, Clemson is sooo bad that they beat Miami and Fl State last year. What a horrible team.

@silverblade43 well I agree our jitters hurt during the first half, but I'm not so sure that Bama's offense is any better than Boise St's. Yall have no passing game at all, only a dam good running game. We are a Run Stop team. The same reason we shut down Adrian Peterson a few years ago, CJ Spiller last year and would do the same to Ingram. Your QB would have to throw to beat us. And I'll never use the term whip or destroy Alabama. TCU would have to play perfect to win. just Let em play!

SEC is overrated? that's funny, i could have sworn that there were more players from SEC teams drafted than any other conference in 2009. NFL scouts do this for a living, they aren't blinded by individuals playing for particular conferences. wtf is the mountain west? a mormon school, a school with a native american mascot and the horned frogs who have only produced 2, that's right, 2, good players in the NFL (LT and Sammy Baugh). Well hey, that's more than BYU and Utah can boast.
