Likewise with the second goal, the ball though close can be replayed slowly and seen just crossing the line and bouncing out, that second goal can or can't be often caught by the ref, so regardless of whether it was a goal or not, that's football for you.

it's a perfectly correct term to use. Live with it. The sport is called Association Football. "Football," "footie," "soccer," etc. are all just shortened versions of that name. None is more legitimate than the other. They call it soccer in Canada, Australia, Scotland...hell plenty of Englishmen use the word soccer and the English invented the damn word.
