Our Ragdolls, Merlin and Maggie are brother/sister but very different. She is seal mitted; he is blue mitted. She loves cuddling but hates to be held at all, much less on her back. He will let you hold him on his back, drape him over your shoulder and loves to give kisses. Cats roll over on their back all the time. It is a natural position. Only rule is when they are done and want to leave, let them go.
1997 a girl called Lauren was walking through a forest and she disappeared no one ever found her until 2000 when a young girl called Mary found her body and markings on her chest saying:I wasn't pretty enough" and now you have read this she will appear in your mirror saying your not pretty enough and kill you. By the way the girl called Mary died shortly after.to be saved post this to 5 other videos. This is TRUE I'm posting this because I don't play with my life
Most Ragdoll's don't mind this at all. If they did you couldn't do this with them and they wouldn't accept it. Mine loves it. He loves to be tummy rubbed. They are wonderful cats if you have time and devotion to them. They are long haired and require care and can have other health issues (heart, etc.) They can live long lives and require commitment but are so worth it.
well all of my cats are from the streets or friends and they had no particular breed but all of them liked being held like that. also are the majority of ragdoll cats colored like that? cause all of the ones i've seen are. maybe just a popular color?
I have a Snowshoe/Ragdoll mix I can hold in any direction and they don't mind being held in a relaxed state and my cat loves to lay on her back 90 % of the time. I call it "sunning" herself! ;-)
i used to have a ragdoll that did that all the time :) he loved us.
they always say ragdolls are docile, yet when he went outside he was king of the neighborhood. he used to beat up the neighborhood cats due to his large size and he even once caught a LIVE HAWK, and tried to bring it through the doggy door. he was a great hunter.
i'm so against holding a cat or any pet upsiede down, why would u do that?! if it's uncomfortable and not good for human it certainly not so for cats too,pls no one do that.. treat any creature specially harmless like u want2be traeted for u will be accountable4ur actions.
@LoveJared1 cats lay on thier backs all the time. holding a cat like that just mimics laying on thier back. it is not uncomfortable for them unless you are holding them wierd. cats are usually just stubborn and want things thier way, so the struggle. but not ragdolls :p
@LoveJared1 Calm down. Don't compare animals to human beings. Human beings have a different way of responding to circumstances than humans do. And have you never held a baby? How do you hold yours (if you have any)? You hold it belly down? Come on!! No human baby likes to be held belly down. They are all held with their backs on your arms. The same applies to kitties. Backs are designed for holding body weight. What are you ranting about accountable actions and stuff... jeez!
@zeepee1234 no they land on their feet,my ragdoll loves to fly, scooping him up and giving him a little throw onto the bed,he goes nuts 4 that n runs bk 4 more over and over
I'm not suggesting animal cruelty but what would they do if you tried to drop them, from a low height, cos they're so laid back would they fall or panic?
My two cats are a cross between a ragdoll and a forest norwegian cat. If they climb down, they go face down, and they also act like this cat. You can hold them upside down, basically do anything with them. They always purr loudly, and are so cute.
@PokePackOpener14 I'm guessing you are norwegian so.. Hvor mye koster ragdoll i norge? Er det valdig dyrt? Hvordan er stamtavler og slikt? Mye dårlige gener? Hvordan er blandigene dine?
i have a ragdoll girlie and they are like ragdolls. you can hold her upside down and shell just purr :) and shes always with me, she hates to be alone in a room. shes like a little doggie only better :)
i had a ragdoll cat named cuppacino (Cina) for short, she hated being held, and always screamed whenever you would pat her. sometimes she wouldnt even want to go near you. then we found out that she had a horrible disease, she grew sores on her back, and was in agony everyday, and we had to put her down. i miss her
My Turkish Angora loves to lie between me and my keyboard when I'm on the computer, and when I'm done, I can pick her up like that too and hold her like a baby :D
My ragdoll weighs 22 pounds and you will throw your back out if you lug him around too long! LOL And BTW, he hates to be carried around. Depends on the cat.
I had a cat that was limber like that... they're the most loving ones. she would get up and rub her face on mine in the middle of the night like so much I couldn't get to sleep. Clingy cat actually
haha! i have a bengal x ragdoll and she always does this. then when we clean her tray she goes and rolls in it then when we try and pick her up she goes all floppy xD

Every cat does the same. Ann Baker, the lady who created Ragdolls was a wacko who believed that her cat Josephine was genetically manipulated during treatment at local university after she was ran over by a car, resulting in future ragdolls being unable to feel pain and relaxed. This is how this legend first appeared.
Teabae "Every cat does the same" --> not true I have 2 persians, one short haired the other long haired. they both HATE it when we hold them high in our arms..
Cats generally are fine with heights they just dont trust us enough to hold them high like this.. Except for ragdolls.
We have what we believe is a Birman but he looks identical to some Ragdolls on YT. He HATES to be held, period, and is not docile so I'm back to thinking he's a Birman...so confusing!
Look at my earlier comments. You have to make a cat feel relaxed first. He has to trust you. It's like with sex:) You also heve to find the right moment (like when he's falling asleep).
Another thing is age. Young cats allow humans to hold them like this less often than adult ones.

Or it could be the cat's personality some just don't want to be held and some love it you can't determine it on breed. Of course trusts does count but really guys some of them just don't like it big whoop.
@tictocfilms if you socialize them, yes. my 2 ragdoll girls love being held like this...not the boy i brought...he was not socialized :( he wouldnt even let you toch him...see my vid...
a ragdoll is a type of cat with a high level of docility, and which doesnt have that snoby independent attitude most other cats have. they also love to be held, which is unique to that breed. these cats love to be around humans, and most of the time, they will be around you like a loyal dog! surprisingly, they are also very good with other pets, but they should stay indoors, because it wont really defend itself because of its relaxed, and peacefull attitude outside. I LUV RAGDOLLS!!!

what?! omg, WRONG! cats are very snobby and independent, there not like dogs. why would a bunch of people post stuff about ragdolls and their compatability with humans, if every cat is that way? P0WN3D!!!

Ragdoll cats are not like other cats. When you hold them they collapse in your arms like a rag doll and just lay there.
Other cats can't stand laying in your arms.
