By the time Lennon did that remark, his mindset had changed, he had already moved on and was much more interested in building his solo career.

I find it somewhat offensive that you wrote "children" in the beginning, like all the children these days are listening to the crappy music people do today, and all the adults are good people that listen to the beatles and other 70s bands 24/7.
