  • Love this tip, THANKS

  • @jeromedavis21 You're very welcome! Please stay tuned for more of our videos.

  • im going to try out for my jr.high basketball team but im a short 5'4 and compard to them if i hold the ball over my head they could just reach down i repeat down to get the ball anyother tips

  • @TheMjdancer1 Move with the ball as soon as you get the rebound to get away from the bigger guys.

  • and if that move doesent work go to plan b,play dead or hammer them in the nuts

  • @TheMjdancer1 ehhhhh, we'd suggest drawing contact and getting to the foul line...

  • @ShotScience What if it touches the rim? You can't shoot it back up if it does? Don't you have to "take it back" or that's only half court games? (Haven't played for a while season starts soon!)

  • @PianoByEar1110 You are thinking about 1/2 court games here!

  • Hi shotscience, I am a small (5'6"), but I also have a pretty good jump and can reach just under the ring. I tend to grab the ball and hold it low because then I'm below the hands area, then power dribble and then go for the reverse layup. I find if I keep it high then I'm just risking getting blocked straight off the rebound.

  • @criticaldoza there isn't a "below the hand zone" because all the little guards will be poking at any ball that come down below your chin. Keep it high and go right back up, or throw in a ball fake and right up. So many things can go wrong if you take the time to drop the dribble and try to go back up.

  • this tip is broken if you put the ball high that gives the defender a shot at the ball. you should rip the ball down and then post up your defender

  • @manfish5000 Truly, "RIP IT DOWN" but do not take it lower than your shoulders or Chin. This is the "POWER POSITION" where we must protect the ball and then it's up and in!

  • @manfish5000 If you are strong with the ball they may make a stab at it, but they also run the risk of fouling you as well.

  • Coach i have a problem when i drive in to the basket. My team plays 5 on 5 games. See i am 5'2 and am pretty fast. when i am going to drive in, there is at least 2 people stepping up and when i try to finish the lay up i panic and turn it into a floater which i end up missing, on the other hand if i pass the ball i will get it stolen, What should i do

  • @bletma281 If they step up to defend they are leaving a player. Get them the ball. Also check out our video "Finishes at The Rim! for way to finish.

  • @ShotScience

how bout if its a fastbreak 2 on 1 situation

  • @bletma281 but there are 2defenders

  • @bletma281 If there are two defenders then a ream mates is obviously open. Get him the ball.

  • @ShotScience For example lets say i stole the ball and i am trying to make a layup but there are 2 defenders in the other side of the court, should i force my shot or just be patient

  • @bletma281 If you do not have the other team out numbered you should set up with your entire team. To go against two often results in a turn-over.

  • day 9 , 10 , 11 , 12 ?

  • @JustLucky98 They are coming!

  • i think the ball shouldnt be high on defensive rebounds, great video, when is next coming out?

  • @BazhoFromTheHood We are into the editing now so should be soon.

  • Chase, I was checking out your youtube channel last night and noticed you were were a 66'ers shirt. Did you get a gig with them?!!!

  • Wheres the other 4 tip mas

  • this is true but only relatively to offensive rebounds. when u catch it down on defensive rebound there is noting wrong with that couse you keep the ball save

  • @Mihau0794 You are right about this, however, you need to keep the ball in the "Chin up" postion before you outlet the ball on the defensive rebound as those same players will be trying to dig it out!

  • @FrustRagetion we took a small break because the videos weren't getting many views right around Christmas. They're back within 24 hours ;-)

  • i make my free throws in practice, and in games like bump. but when im in a game i just cant make them in a game, and i go to the line alot. please help me!! i got a free throw contest in 2 weeks, and a tournament in 3 weeks. i need a video about free throws now!!!!!

  • @EricGscoot you probably don't practice your free throws when you're tired and fatigued. You have to practice with the same conditions that you'll confront in a game, otherwise you won't be able to get the same results in game-time situations. Also, you might be suffering from nerves. That's a mental roadblock you need to get over. Try our tips from the Mental Imagery and Mental Rehearsal video. Good luck!

  • Great tip

Can i get a suggestion on laying up in traffic

  • @Abhishek23000 check out our Layups 101 video and our "Finishes at the Rim" video.

  • Great Tip! I think my favorite one so far!

  • @AwesomeCohen Sweet!!!! We are so pleased that you have found these tips to be useful. Please "SPREAD THE WORD!'

  • But tall people can hit the ball up high and up high it's harder to keep control

  • @bjincorporated so you suggest bringing the ball down? That's how you get it stolen and then blocked because you gave the defense time to adjust. Keep it high and be quick about it!

  • @ShotScience Hey, I'm 13, 5"7 and quite skinny. I play like a small forward, but I have a good low post play due to the amount I practiced it. I also have a decent - good mid range shot + pull-up shot. My layups are decent but I need improvement on my left. I can reach the net on a 10 ft rim and can rebound very well against even U16's. My disadvantages are that I am quite weak. That's mainly it. How could I improve my strength without weights, also what should I improve to get into the NBA?

  • @LegitSkills101 At 13, you still have a lot of growing to do as well as your body maturing. As a part of the maturation process your strength will improve as well. Upper body exercises that will help with your strength are push-ups, pull-ups, rope jumping and running. Short sprints help a lot. If you are hoping for a shot in the NBA your skills must be really good. That means right and left hands on your handles, shooting, defense and anything connected with the game.

  • @ShotScience Thanks for the help. My handles are equal in both hands, which is surprising for the fact I play Post. Another thing is that I live in Ireland which is wet so I can't be outside regularly.

  • @CrazyBananaMan2 some coaches tell their players that. We prefer to keep the ball high for a quicker release AND the arms and ball are exposed so that referees can see any contact clearly. We prefer the arms to be extended.

  • iPhone 4s comment! Keep it high! Siiiiick!

  • 0:24 zombie :))

  • Thanks The Tip Was realy helpfull! :)

  • @ninjafire99 Glad we could help! Thanks for watching our vids. Please "SPREAD THE WORD!"

  • just wondering something im 6.2 and i haven't played basketball alot since i was little, i stopped for a long time and im thinking of going proffesional is it to late to start again.

  • @Ninetailboy1 It is never too late to get back into the Game! Whether you can become a pro or not is impossible to say. You may be able to do it, but we cannot forecast it for you because there are too many variables and your being away from the game for a number of years. Ner to late to go for it!

  • @ShotScience thank you!! :] than i'll will get back in the game and see where it takes me

  • Let go nicks

  • @Ninetailboy1 It would be great for them to start off with a win!

  • @ShotScience lol they did against the celtics >:D

  • Hey Guys, You don't have to reply to this if you don't want to, i was just wondering what NBA teams you go for and who you think will be condenders for the championship this season, thanks =)

  • @tingy30 we like the Warriors as they are our local team and the Mavs. Nowitski is the best shooter in the World!!!!

  • Thank you santa.

  • @tothebeaty0 You have been a good boy this year. Let's make sure that you are for 2012 also!

  • It's Christmas in UAE!

    no snow.

    but anywho!

  • @TutorialsOnHow WOW! Why no snow? Is it too warm? HaHa Has there ever been snowfall in the UAE? That would be really strange.

  • great vids once again guys! keep up the high quality. great job. much love from chicago!

  • @V3rticalShift Hail to you in Chicago! Thanks so much for your support and we will try to continue to provide very solid videos for you and all the other Ballers who follow us.

  • do you guys have a basketball team or league?

  • @antoniowright0 Coach Tom is a High School coach and coached a Travel/Club Team for ten years up until this past spring. He retired from the Travel Team.

  • @ShotScience cool... you should get a team a start me at the 3 or 2 lol. you won't regret it ^_-

  • <3

  • Thanks for the great tip!! I had a problem with bringing the ball down, so hopefully this will allow me to score more

  • lol at little guy picture

  • @guitarlover31011 that's Muggsy Bogues!

  • Reminds me of Dwight Howard in the 09 Finals. He always keeps the ball low. A turnover or a pair of missed free throws in an instant.

  • @D12world1 yeah, doesn't make much sense, especially when you're that tall. Your little sister could steal the ball away from him when he does that!

  • Im the shortest person when we play basketball but I'm the one who gets the rebounds everytime. The tell people always cant get it LOL

  • @lilzayn24 you must be a crafty player! Keep rippin' down the boards!

  • merry christmas coach...and all the staff that make all these videos possible and especially the guys who subscribed, watched and liked all the videos...spread the word

  • @exchamelot Thanks so much and a Merry Xmas to you and all of the Shot Science followers, subscribers and friends.

  • im gunna wake up hearing him laugh lol

  • @cRockBallin22 What an awful thought!!!!!

  • I always did wrong.Thanks!

  • @bineteran What did you do wrong?

  • @ShotScience I moved the ball below my head :)

  • @bineteran yeah, don't do that! ;-)

  • Yeah but if you have enough strength to keep it in your hands and bringing it down to power it up to score could result in defender trying to steal and getting a call on that attemp.. so you get and1 :) But if you dont have enough power in your legs and arms I guess this tip is best ;)

  • @ViDiLTU we believe you go for the score and if they foul you in that process, all the better. Don't bring the ball down because you will form it as a habit and you'll end up turning the ball over all the time. Ask any coach, this is the real deal.

  • Really good tip 4 the big man

  • @zjhayes40 Thanks a ton!

  • thank you for all these tips

  • @TradingCardsDude Our pleasure to offer them to all the true Playa's.

  • Tip 8 + The Mikan Drill = the start of an awesome big middle man.

  • @MorningThief83 We agree totally!

  • Yeah... that's very usefull. i will practise when snows will end.

  • @piterqek Hopefully that will be tomorrow!

  • What if u got double teamed and went into panic mode... :/

  • @snakebuddy1997 Why "Panic Mode?" Our feeling is to remain calm and if you are unable to get the shot up someone is open. If it gets really "hairy" throw the ball off one of their legs out of bounds.

  • After playing basketball for so many years this stills helps me to remember the basics which you can lose touch of. Thanks for the videos, Merry Xmas

  • @ernestha It usually comes back to us pretty quickly when we have reason to remember. Happy Holidays to you and your family.

  • My first coach teached me that such a great tip

  • @Denielgunz Your had a very smart coach!

  • Thats what my coach told me before

  • @xXStevenStamkos91Xx Smart coach!! You are probably a smart player!

  • Nice tip. It also annoys me back when I used to play AAU Basketball, that some of the big guys would take that extra dribble after they rebounded the ball.

  • @alldaybasketball That "dribble" is almost a sure turn-over! It is exasperating!

  • Great tip! Especially helpful for a post-man like me, since I would always bring the ball below my waist on a rebound, which sometimes resulted in a scramble for a plucked ball. Very helpful tip!!!

  • @TheMrGhibli Thanks and we are pleased that we could help you with this and the other tips.

  • I'm playing 8th grade basketball right? Well this team I played had a kid that was 6'5! None of our usual reounders got any action that game:(

  • @AlexsDominoes Hopefully your guys were trying to block him off the boards.

  • this is gr8 for me

  • @ArsalanAijaz97 We are pleased that we can offer something that will help your game.

  • EHE. i always suck at rebounds stuff cause i never work on shooting after i fail once. so...let's try :P

  • @TruckanLe Let's do it!!!!

  • thank you for all these tips

  • @jamaicanhobos14 thank you for watching! Help us get the word out!

  • my coach is always saying this and some of the big guys still don't get it. good tip

  • @o0tiger0o well, if they want to be unstoppable, they better take your coach's advice!

  • Thanks coach!

  • @Elextos Thank you for watching!!
