  • I hope to see Jim Gordon performing again someday.

  • Ah, when the drugs were good and the dope was plentiful.

  • traffic and america two best bands of the 70's. besides floyd and zep and sabbath

  • @Roberthenryii i agree cept for America. cannot stand America

  • Great Jamming of Piano/keyboard & Saxophone backed by Congo base...Great music to listen.

  • what i llove about this is you can make up your own concoction and just kick back and just let it take you away

  • Seen them AragonBrawl Room Chi- Town 1971. Those are the days. :)

  • This song gives me goosebumps.

  • was there...just getting out of 8th grade

  • the congo drums are a quality addition

  • awesome!

  • on Sax is Chris Wood... Happy birthday Chris!

  • One of the forgotten classic bands from the 60's. Ahead of their time. How about Chris Wood on Sax and Rebop on congas???

  • OMG, it just does not get better than Winwood.

  • great!

  • Does anyone out there know who was playing on stage ...Congas ? Sax ? I wanna say Olatunji and Bobby Keys ..but not sure ...help :)))

  • @johnnycoyo if you type in traffic concert there is the whole thing and lists the members at the end Sax-Chris Wood and Congos-Rebop

  • im stuck in traffic

  • outstanding !!!

  • Steve Winwood was a major fox back then whooooot ! :p

  • @Wigglingwench I agree be let's face it he always was...Is!

  • clasic

  • Back in the days when the guys could play. What a talent

  • We are so lucky to have had this great music. We are surely blessed.

Peace and love will live forever

  • We are so lucky to have had this great music. We are surely blessed.

Peace and love will live forever

  • They just do not make music like this anymore, my generation is a dieing breed, God bless Rock n Roll.

  • I saw hem in Boston's Orpheum Theatre when they did this tour. They were AMAZING. Ballons and beach balls everywhere.

    JJKale was the back-up band.

  • If you want to know how the 70's were, play this song and crank it up. You'll get a taste of some of the best years I experienced!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @CinnamonPam

You got that right, just sit back and relax and let your mind go. I think this is the most relaxing song I've ever heard. When I just need to shut the world out, I listen to this....to me...very, very, peaceful.

  • @CinnamonPam You got that right, CP! From another P from that era! ;)

  • I went to woodstock in 94 just to see Traffic, it was my only purpose, although I saw much more, they were outstanding.

  • i like to listen to this song when Im painting Oh I just Love listening to this Yummy

  • early 20's hello folks real music

  • I listen to this song when I want to take a trip back in time. But it could have been written yesterday. Timeless music really!

  • @builderbro written yesterday by who?? JustinBieber?Bono? lol, the talent pool is so shallow were reduced to bands like U2 ,with zero musicians` chops, mediocre songwriting, and the singer is some runt without any charisma ...still selling out an arena ,its sad,

  • @PAULOcbi If it were to have been written yesterday, only Steve Winwood could be the one to do it!! It certainly would not be the great song it is written or performed by anyone else. Justin who???

The song and its performance is not related to an era - it is a song so great that it will stand on its own forever. Winwood's distinctive musical style will endure throughout many generations. I have seen him live, I can't wait to see him live again, and I will always appreciate his music.

  • @builderbro yes, only a handful of talented songwriters couldve penned such a great tune, and no-one in the game these days is of that caliber, nuthin but a bunch of money-grubbin` impostors these days,

  • Lennon and McCartney, Clapton were/are legendary musicians and modern composers, but many other Englishmen of their age group like; the multi-dimensional Winwood, the flamboyant Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull), solid Paul Rodgers, others had such creative musical skills as well as superb talent.

  • @busterbone you got it, man

  • Fantastic!! My favourite Traffic song! Great band! Thanks for this one!

  • Just me I am sure, but this track of Traffic goes perfectly hand in hand with Dave Brubecks " Take Five "...to me anyway.

  • The were ahead of their time! Steve Winwood was Genius and this is great a great jam!!

  • One of my all time top 5 songs! Still have 2 copies of the album with the cut corners (wore one out) during my "chemical enhanced" days.

  • I cannot get enough of this song!

  • Always seemed like such a spacey song- that's why I've always liked it. A real out-of-body experience.

  • "Little Stevie" is a bluesman, through and through. He proved that when he played on Electric Ladyland. A musical genius by the time he could drive.

  • Saw him with Eric in DC last year. He can do the blues with EC and anybody, at that. He's got lot's of soul.

  • sz3rd

was there too, an to date one the best all time shows I saw......

    SM Civic 72 { R.I.P Bruce your missed ol friend }

  • Simply Awesome !!!!!

  • It's MSRS Roger Hawkins on drums. Cannot really see the bass player - David Hood? But no Barry Beckett on this gig?

  • I was there. I had a connection through Alan Parker, who was the opening act. Great seats and backstage passes, for Both shows. That's right, they played an 8 PM show and a late show. Jim Capaldi took my friend's camera and began shooting backstage.

  • Yes i agree. One of my all time fav Concerts, heard them at the "on the road" Tour. One of the best Concerts, i Heard in over 40 Years

  • I saw them around the same time as this but I saw them at the Shrine attm. sat in the box up in the left right over the stage one of my fav concerts !

  • Played this album to death when it came out. Great memories. There were great musicians back then...now? they can't even play instruments, nor write lyrics. This was a great band . GREAT BAND! Thanks Steve and thank you Jim Capaldi( RIP)

  • 'take a walk down by the river' I remember but Madda you're too hard on the kids (sounds like our parents saying "that's not music!") fer instance check out Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi videos on utube; but I DO remember these days (my first Traffic albums were on 8-track tapes, haha) and there WAS special musical energy in the air, nothing quite like it today...

  • I guess you are right. Memories do that to people, especially if they are associated with the best times of our life. I will check Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi out, although I have mellowed with age quite a bit and listen to Barry White who I consider a great musician. Might sound odd to you, but that's the way it is. I'll try not to be too hard ,okay ;-) ?

  • this is to Madda59 yeah I've mellowed too but again not; I still think this music is the best, and I agree about Barry. I listen to old stuff and old guys mostly, but I have a soft spot for say Fugees, like that. I think it's harder for the new guys to hit the sweet groove for various reasons now...one Love

  • @carloscarlos13 yes, we do sound like our parents, but the music now is shallow and not really music as much as electronically emitted sound.

  • THEY USED TO PLAY THIS ON CLASSIC RADIO AROUND HERE YEARS AGO AND SOMETIMES VIDEO ON mtv. rEAL PSYCHADELIC SHIT

  • Steve Winwood and Reebop.....they rock!

  • Top Shelf

  • Acid Jazz

  • LOL

  • Traffic was the greatest band of all time.Jazz, Rock, Folk, Blues. They could do it all. And it's because Winwood is the most talented musician/singer on the face of the earth.

  • Winwood How True! master Winwood!

  • There was GREAT MUSIC coming out of the 70s and much of it is still great and even considered CLASSIC, incl Hendrix, Eagles, Steve Winwood and lots of others

  • Thanxxxx for post 74sodapop! Great sound GREAT BAND!!! BANDAÇO DO CARAY!!!

  • I've been listening to Traffic since I came across them in 1972. I still love em and think they were way ahead of their time. A great fusion of jazz, blues and rock. I would love to have been able to have visited their cottage in the woods in the middle of no where that the group lived at in the late 60's, early 70's when they were finding their sound.

  • was most likely their worst show ---at the AM in nyc think it was early 73 and as i recall woods dad had died and he was so far gone the show was 25-30 min and over --he was fallin down and they just went off and it was over---the only good thing was QMS was also on the bill and were more than good

  • Just outstanding tunes Been rocking to steve from way back in the late 60's...

  • wow, lyrics are so powerful, haha screams freedom!

  • this is about bad governing, unchallengeable command like military regime..

  • I was at this concert ....

  • me too!

  • lol I mean I was at his concert 2 years ago!

  • your lucky, do you remember most of it ? haha

  • Anyone know what the meaning of the lyrics is? Thanks! Love it.

  • I believe its about musicians getting screwed over by shady record companys

  • thats what I have always thought, But I think that there is a reference to drug addiction as well

  • 200% acid, Loved it

  • right on bro

  • Man i wish i was born in the 70's

  • Absolutely love Traffic! Biggest disappointment was not seeing them when they were around. Second biggest, not being able to tour w/Winwood, cause I didn't double on keys.... (well, maybe these two should be reversed)

  • Winword is unbeleivable. Great singer great jazz and rock muscian. This video is a jem. It is so close to the album.

  • I was lucky enough to see Traffic 2 nights in a rown in Boston Mass. back in 72 when they did this LP, the second night Stevie played the guitar like nobody's business. THEY were one of the top 3 bands i ever saw

  • traffic STEVE LO MEJOR DE LOS 70.CON "Dear Mr Fantasy" en vivo

  • excuse the last comment - it's late

  • jim gordon played drums on the original not jim capaldi- i don't know why capaldi didn't. i do know he was trying to be more of a singer front man. his first solo album was released in 71 or 72

  • Jim Capaldi was a good writer and drummer but this live version drags without the drumming of the great Jim Gordon. He played on the entire record that this came from like a year earlier. Had he already left the band by this time?

  • "We were children, Playin' with toys."

    Yeah,,,,,,,,

  • Steve, you rock!

  • Steve.........you rock!

  • much better than just fantastic....

  • fantastic!

  • Wow---This is what U-tube was made for!!!

Traffic were excellent--they were at Watchfield Free Festival, Oxfordshire in 1975 (or some of them at least) and they jammed for 5 hours through the night--such times never to be repeated...

  • So cool on keyboards and "Dear Mr Fantasy" (from this concert) shows his killer guitar skills

  • saw em at eastown n cobo detroit. doesnt get any better

  • winwood was writing 5 minute masterpieces when hendrix was just jamming. listen to empty pages, glad etc.

  • He was only seventeen or eighteen at the time!

Stevie a legend! I got the chance to see Blind Faith and Traffic both times at the Santa Monica Civic auditorium! This show was magical the tickest cost $6.50!

  • I love this song--Steve winwood with long hair!! Awesome lyrics and music!!

  • Great! Thanks for posting
