Ancient Egyptian Book of the Dead at ROM

Some of my fondest memories are when I visited the ROM as a young person thirsty to see the world if only from artifacts. ROM fascinated me. I have not lived in Toronto since the late 70's but a piece of my heart is there still. I wish I could play a part in such an important project. Things like this make my heart pound. I'm 61 now and do research daily on archeology, ancient this ancient that. I am so glad much is being revealed we never knew before. It's a new day. Thank you ROM.

oh i dont see the name Amen-em- Hat just tell the truth if you tell people those things i see the names Tea,Pepi,Mer-en-Ra ,oh btw i learned myself to read the names of the Pharao's as well the cartouches in Hieroglyphics its just like a puzzle just to check it extra and make sure no mistake will be make in names ,and Enoch the 7 th after Adam his legacy form the roots of Egyptian Pyramids i did my home work

@catharine1967 @catharine1967 Hi Catharine. The Book of the Dead is a funerary text that contains magical spells written to help the deceased navigate the underworld. There are many versions of the Ancient Egyptian book and each book is unique. The artifact in the ROM's collections was found in the tomb of Amen-em-hat. We know this because his name is mentioned in the text as well as details about Thebes, an Ancient Egyptian city located on the east bank of the Nile River.

@RoyalOntarioMuseum thank you for this reply , i see well thats so interesting to know that there are more books and yes i already knew about the magic spells also that no one can use them ,because of the exact translation ,that is so important otherwise things can go badly wrong ,i do have an Egyptian book with stones that tells you the future as well and i will do research on the name Amen-em-Hat its so interesting ,lots of old knowledge is gone thank you so much for this info

mmm i have the Egyptian book of the death

from 1967 its a replublication of the originally

work in 1895 in Order of the

trustees British museum

and it is called the papiri of Ani the best preserved

and the Best ILLUMINATED of al the papiri

also that the Egyptians write it over

from the Tibetan book of the Death

it also contain Spells Magic and much more
