Yes 'blackbeasthamish', as you rightly deduced, I am getting on a bit, and possibly, 'stuck in the past'. As for me moving on, you might benefit from looking back now and again. Modern doesn't necessarily mean better! When an abysmal rendition of a great song is made, attempting to justify its shortcomings as being 'different' is facile. Ferry may compare favourably with modern, 'yea-yea' rubbish, and might sing 'pop' songs well, I don't know. He should however, leave 'standards' to singers.
@alinn71 ...I know that.. duh.. but it seems like he's commenting on air while Bryan is singing.. seems strange and a bit out of place. Anybody knows anything about this broadcast?
What a load of rubbish. More abuse, by the same 'artist' ( used in its loosest sense) on a great 'standard'. Doesn't he know what he sounds like? If he still needs to work, I suggest shelf stacking. MPRS.
Dreadful! Ferry should be locked up for violating more great 'standards' than anyone else in history! How he gets away with it amazes me, and that people are prepared to pay to see him, simply unbelievable.
@ancient446 I can see why you use the name ancient. You are obviously stuck in the past and cannot bear to hear songs performed any differently than they were 50 years ago. Yes, they were probably right for their time, but unlike you times and styles have moved on. Suggest you leave the past in the past. By the way, electric lighting is all the rage nowadays.
While Bryan Ferry doesn't sing quite like he did in the Roxy Music days he still conveys the romance. Your voice weakens when you get older. The guy is a legend.
This guy CAN'T sing. He doesn't open his mouth. WHy does he cut "she..." short? It needs to be prolonged; it is the title of the song. This version is lousy.
Mr. Ferry sings well as always, but Jesus Christ how this arrangement is BAD. Just plain horrible chord choices, and what the eff is that guitarist playing there?
he is still great to listen to after all these years, i first saw roxy on liverpool stadium or was it st georges hall about 36 years ago, i hope roxy bring out their promised album very soon
Beautiful!

Not bad, as he puts his personal style to this piece, but definitely does not reach Charles Aznavour's original.

This is such a touching performance from Bryan, especially when Charles sings, I know he only sings one word but it brought tears to my eyes!

Ferry's version is more straightforward, less pretentious than Aznavour's version by comparison.
Impeccably charming
