  • Where did this anger come from ? Oh, I forgot, he was black in America in the 1960's. What was I thinking?

  • It's amazing what dear Jimi could do with a guitar. All the song writers felt what they wrote.

  • 14 people hate lip synch

  • 14 dislike^^ ...ok, what's wrong with you?

  • @intrusone 14 people don't realize they're square ...

  • raw

  • I hate to be a bore but....they were called The Jimi Hendrix Experience, and there were two other great musicians backing Jimi, Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell. While Jimi was obviously the genius, the star etc...the rest of The Experience seem to get left out in the cold. Great footage, killer track, nuff said.

  • 14 faggots need to have the living daylight kicked out of them. :():

Sad attempt at a frowning smiley.

  • Ah...the Experience...the most UNDERRATED band of all. All I hear is fucking "Jimi this Jimi that". Stupid bastards- don't you realize every great musician needs a great backing crew. Give it up for the Experience. But I know...I know...asking you dope fiends to respect Noel Redding, Mitch, is like asking a black lineman to block for Peyton Hillis. In other words, it ain't happenin'

  • @Roggiedodgie I am so with you brother!

  • so hot!

  • height 5'11 weight 133, south-paw

  • the grandfather of guitar

  • @bumbo612 The godfather of guitar

  • I think hendrix was around 5'11 he was as tall as the stones and others--but im not sure of exact height

  • This is great thanks for posting. Jeff Beck's favorite Hendrix solo

  • Definiton of coolnes

  • just get stoned and be FREE..X0X0X0X

  • this is dubed asswipe

  • Y'know who's playing cowbell? GOD.

  • PLayback?

  • Stoned free.

  • One of my fav Hendrix songs. Love the groove. Band was great with rhythms and sounds. outside the norm. Great song.

  • always dug that wild solo, the kind those stream-of-lifeless-note shredders can't produce, their hands safely sticking like barnacles around two or three frets, they're fingers busily hitting patterns not too far from home, then they relocate to another rock oops fret, on schedule, or calculated whim.

  • reason they so skinny is because of the kind of pants they wearing. looks like thos nylon jobs they wore in them days . lack of food>?>>now that one was funny !

  • BRT WHERE ARE THE DAYS

  • superrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • Lip syncing.

  • He was still a kid when he died but ill always look at him as much older than myself.

  • great tune--the writer , the singer , the guitar player ,the performer..ect

  • MORE COWBELL!!!!!!!!

  • @joe1969812 Hilarious

  • WTF with the flicking back and forth..great song by great group

  • classico

  • Jimi Hendrix, The only man who could add just enough cowbell.

  • @Nielstm25

    Ha-Ha!!

  • His voice is so powerful he don't need a microphone.

  • Ow ... by the way, check out the video i made to machine gun on my channel. Its from the fillmore east 4th set, you'll see there are still a couple of normal-headed people walking around here...

  • Guys, im from Belgium, and as y'all probably know, they're good at fucking things up...Screwing Congo after the colonialism times...Breaking the record for the longest period without a government...And putting an unplugged Jimi on TV with an overdub...

  • @Dns2080 true...

  • Looks like Austin Powers should be out on stage any minute.

  • Reminds you of Prince........Hmmmmmmm wonder where Prince got his look!

  • @HaightandAshbury And Jimi got his from Little Richard, whooooa whooooaa!!! Little Richard created it on his own. They are all great though.

  • No, he's right. More cowbell! (kidding)

  • how cool is this!

  • His guitar's not even plugged in..

  • Out of this world guitar solo!

  • i dont think he was stone free at this point lol

  • The King ♥

  • Has to be the worst filming ever, lol..

  • question authority & think for yourself

  • when the power of love3 ov3ercomes t5he love of power, will be free!ª

  • @BustaFilms1 when the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace....

  • @RIPHendrix70 Si che!!!

  • The camera angle views are pretty funny and manic. Most of the shows then (still now) were lip-synced but I still anjoy the visuals. Thanks.

  • @tun875 are you serious? That IS Mitchell!

  • There goes that E7 #9 chord. That beautiful riff that he does bouncing off the bottom e string then a couple of those chords....man perfection. It 'sjust as well they are miming,if he was playin' for real he'd make it look even easier!!

Is it me or does the ending of this song sound like the Joe 90 theme tune? or maybe it's joe 90 sounds like the ending of Stone free??

I'm off to try and play that opening riff (really badly).

  • 8 people dont know real music

  • dont watch this if your epileptic, you might get a seizure

  • @gypana Funny, I was just thinking the same exact thing! Had to minimize the browser!

  • @gypana why would you get a seizure?

  • Thanks a lot for this! Wonderful!

  • Jimi hated to lip sync but it was an important part of the band getting exposure.

"March 7, 1967 Tienerklanken BRT, (Belgian television); Hey Joe (lip sync); Stone Free (lip sync)"

  • Best musician ever hands down!

  • Great Video, Thanks!

  • Dumb fucks .... Ever think maybe they just dubbed the song over the video BECAUSE THEY WERE STUPID ....They should have had Jimi plugged in and recorded it .... the irony of it all ....

  • @virbius1 It's not really ironic. Promo videos like this are the reason why the Experience became so popular across Europe in less than one year. The goal was to get the band noticed.

  • @virbius1 JUST LIKE MUSIC TODAY NOTHING HAS CHANGED

  • SLEGATEVI !!!!

  • Jimi was a zombie robot from deep under the sea. He ate tree moss and drank his own tears. This is more than true. His fastest time at the 33 yard dash is infinity. Chickens and cheetahs are always flying out his ass. Who wants to touch my hiccup? Don't be an epic troll.

  • Belgium is so cool

  • Thank you for sharing this video my man. God bless Jimi. I bet he is Stone Free now :)

  • i likr the sex jokes in this song

  • MORE COWBELLLLLLLL

  • WOW...this is freaking aMAAAAAzingggg.... I didn't know there were wireless guitar amps, etc. in 1967...this is truly historic and revelatory...did anyone apply for patents on these technologies? Oh...maybe...they were lip synching to a RECORDING???

    Maybe? geez....great song

  • Geez, you get motion sickness watching this, backwards and forwards all the time.

  • stone free the Wallons from the mean Flemish !

  • Happy 68th birthday Mr. Hendrix! Chances are good that, today, November 27th, 2010, you could blow out the candles on your cake with one of your typical guitar solos. Have a nice day, sir!

  • I've gone through a dozen Hendrix videos today and this is by far the best. Long live Belgium...Dan Nealon

  • I would assume this is just a promotional video which is why they just played along to the studio track

  • @BoxenstienMusic

Look at a lot of music from this era, the yardbirds, the kinks, rascals etc.

They simply didn't have the technology to broadcast these sounds live at the time. Live performances sounded absolutely atrocious, so their only option was to play dubbed.

  • Lovin' that bell :-)

  • All you're hearing is a recording. They're not really playing or singing..No microphones. No monitors. No amps. No guitar cords. Still a great band, but you're not listening to a live performance.

  • President Obama quoted Hendrix's "they talk about me like a dog" lyric in his 2010 Labor Day speech.

  • My fav Jimi Hendrix song eva !!! used to be Redhouse but i think i outgrew it !!

  • great version-hate stop-start

  • More Cowbell!

  • When is this from?

Hilarious how they didn't bother even making a token attempt to make it seem a real show; no wires, no backing vocals, etc.

Love the 'psychedelic' camera-switching though, heh

  • One of my favorite guitarists next to Jimmy Page. I had no clue who Jimi Hendrix was when I did a music research project in Middle School. After reading about his stuff he was a fabulous musician next to Page. Idc who says whos better lets just say there both incredibly talented musicians ;).

  • This is stone free from bbc sessions

  • @macewindu67 It's from Belgian TV, not the BBC.

  • Should have been a huge hit single, globally.

  • I can't believe that this entire trio is dead, so much for an experience reunion. damn

  • @bruces3 Theyre not dead, jus teaching god how to play in a band,

  • @scottwillems yeh but we sure could use them now to combat the rest of the crap in 2010.

  • No cords, no amps, and the cymbals don't move when the sticks are waved above them.

  • i think we found the one and only thing Hendrix cant do- lipsynch

  • More Cow Bell!!!!

  • food must have been scarce back then

  • the camera work makes me dizzzy

  • needs less cow bell! jus playin..

  • What the hell is Noel doing ?

  • @stevek051 groovin'.....duh

  • @andrewcasarsa...Noel was Groovy with a capital "G"...I've always admired his playing...

  • Cow bell from hell!!

  • Jimi with Soul. Outta sight!! Get it!

  • Stone Free

  • i HATE camera men from the 60s

  • @thenamesfrancisco It looks like they were all on tea break, with the TD just switching manically between two fixed cameras. Then @ 2:34, break over, you finally get a zoom

  • Saw the Jimi Hendrix Experience in and around Honolulu, Hawaii in '69 and '70. He did this of course, much of his first 2 American albums and my favorites at the time (I was 14) 3d Stone from the Sun, Voodoo Chile, Wind Cries Mary. Hendrix hung out for a while making a film and recording in the Islands and in addition to his 'official' gigs, he played around locally a few times.

  • i cant get enough of this song its so funky! i was listening to it walking down the street and started kinda ainging along to it - i couldnt help it!-thankfully someone was with me so i didnt look too nuts.

i love all the "ow!"'s, it sounds like hes really enjoying it. pity about the video but it is pretty funny.

  • they dont have microphones and cabel to guitars

  • yeah, music videos were alittle les creative back then

  • Oh man these old videos crack me up if your going to make them lip-syc then at least put up a mic.

  • I'm glad you pointed that out. At first I actually thought this was youtube created vid. Doesn't even look like he's singing "stone free"..lol

  • sweet video man, 5 stars. hendrix was god, i was born after the era of good music was over

  • Wow this song is pretty kick ass and funky

  • The constant different camera angle shots are triggering my epilepsy.

  • LMAO!

  • I feel your pain, my old case of wa-witis-groovilepsy-vabratosis was suddenly unsprung from many years of remission after hearing this. It must have flashed back, as noted by uncrontolled muscle twitching.

  • epilepsy! that's the word!

  • theyre just playing along the original song...the instruments arent plugged..and wireless hasnt signal hasnt been discovered at the time.

  • i prefer to heard the original sound. i can hear the studio version easily in my pc, but i CANT hear the live version of that day.

  • could use more cowbell

  • word

  • You can NEVER have enough cowbell.

  • EVER!

  • At 2:25 you hear Stevie Ray... (from what Hendrix laid down)

  • @v668 shut up and listen to the dam song.

  • @tone2287 do you realize you replied to someone who commented on this video 2 years ago

  • @ANTINAM loll yeah , thats the way it works.

  • @tone2287 lol :D

  • @tone2287 All I here is cowbell... and no I'm not a Jimi hater and in fact I am a huge fan and listen to his music almost every day. My favorite song is castles made of sand.

  • @v668 NO! the cowbell is ok like it is!

  • in dunno why but its great that this video is like not the best quality ... it reflects that nothin was just good or better said perfect these days ... not the politics, not the people with their rassism and stuff like that !!! its closer to the common people ... and i loooooooooove blackandwhite !!! hell yeah !!!

  • Listen carefully.. the sound is the studio version of the song. That's too bad. Unless the version I heard on CD was the version recorded on that tv show.. And please!! Don't tell me I'm wrong. I know what this song feels like, and it feels like the version I've heard so many times before. Ain't saying it isn't great by the way..that song is one awesome piece of magic only Jimi Hendrix could have brought us.

  • no notice how the guitars arent even plugged in, its the finished version

  • mitch mitchell? on bass? lol

    noel redding

  • Wow this is great 5 stars!

  • Oh I thought Stone Free meant that he wasn't Stoned. I like Jimi but I don't really follow his music. But the Dudes a legend.

  • They are lip synching but at least it was actually them who recorded it and they weren`t thrown 10 millions awards at phony corporate televised awards show to legitamize it.

  • Like rap music?

  • Great!

  • "We need more cowbell!" Great

  • dudes a flippin legend. he's from my home town of seattle. rest in peace jimi. ur my favorite.

  • aw mitch mitchell your the bassist man!

  • hendrix died in 1970, he wasn't a 70's musician

  • the drummer can't even rock out or they can't hear the tape

  • Yeah it lip synk, At least they did Stone Free. Thats a rare vid, 5 stars, thanks.

  • Cool!

  • It's so funny people see this stuff now and go "oh my gosh, this sucks because the guitars aren't even plugged in." OF COUSE THEY AREN'T PLUGGED IN! THEY'RE LIP-SYNCING! This is pretty much unheard of in this day and age but was common (epecially in countries outside of the U.S.) to do this even in the '90s! And when bands thought they could really get away with it, they would mock the whole situation by singing off cue, etc.

  • Thsi is the studio version, but it shouldn't matter, it's brilliant anyway. besides everyone did it back then. I love the psychadelic camera effects...

  • Regardless of whether they're plugged in, lip synching or what, Hendrix and his band made this music and it was ahead of it's time.

  • ahaha lame

  • look, the guitar haven't the jack, jimi haven't the microphone and the audio is of the studio version

  • i remember reading about this, they wanted jimi to lip synch the song. accordign to the book they werent happy with this descision and mitch and noel tried there best to make a mockery of this clip.

  • It's called lip-synching for tv. It's still done today.

  • no you fag..the people who uploaded this video probly put the music over it..the sound qaulity would be much worse if it was a lip sync, judging by how old this video looks.

  • It's Stone Free, no doubt.

  • it'q a playback verson but it's stone free, jimi plays stone free on is guitar

  • how do u know this is stone free? jimi doesnt even have a mic. and this is the cd version of stone free

  • you can see him playing the harmonics and then doing the vibrato on the string which is the begining of stone free

  • No only doesn't he have a mic, the guitar is not even hooked-up.

  • This is what a late 60s/70s music video looks like. The action view 1:07 gives it away. lol

  • nice, rare.
