I was born in 1970. this guy could be my dad. thanks to my dad for raising me on such great music. my son is 10 and loves Floyd. gilmour is a god, the true lord of the strings, and his works will live on thru the ages. He is timeless. Hot as hell then, still hot as hell now. And add the talent? he should be #1 on every best guitarist list. better than hendrix. smooth, clean, clear,.....absolutely beautiful in every way. there's a reason why there are no dislikes here....

David is a definitely a unique guitarist -- so soulful and emotive. There aren't many guitarists who possess David's ability to reach right into the listener's very core and stir up so much feeling.

While many guitarists "borrow" from others, David's technique and style are exclusively his ... that's very admirable.

Also, never have I seen any other guitarist bend notes so far that the strings resemble "McDonalds" arches on the fingerboard ;o)

How long David is able to sustain those bended notes is a marvel in and of itself. As effortless as David makes it appear, it cannot be easy -- not that I would know, but "played until my fingers bled" comes to mind.
