I have been in this jail as well. I am a good ole boy, and I'm not an officer. I was treated well in the Sheriffs Department, with respect. I wish I would have went straight there instead of the hospital. I was treated like dung in the hospital...it was not until the Sheriff's Department and the medical staff they have were able to tend to me that I was starting to do better. They are a good bunch, and anyone who says else is probably in there again, now.

Unfortunately i Live in Knox County TN and the whole dept has a " good ole boy " mentality and approach to things, They are all mean and really get a kick out of depriving people of basic fundamental human rights. The Knox County Sheriffs office shows no mercy. My best advise to anyone is never travel to east Tennessee. All of these counties are similar to this. Knox county wants to act like a BIG city , yet operate like a backwoods redneck society..

We don't know if someone is guilty or not. That is not our job. We are ensuring thier care, custody and control while in jail.

He was placed in a restraint chair to keep him from hurting himself. There are laws in place in each state that dictate how, why and for how long they are to be used.

I've been in one of those Chairs. We call them the Be sweet seat. I was put in one at the Old Knox Co Jail, which is downtown where the courthouse is. They put a motorcycle Type helmet on me that I couldn't see out of and every now and then someone come by and slap it with a stick.Those chairs should be illegal but this was back when they were Angel Cuffing people to bars, spreading them out like jesus and hanging them on bars where the feet barely touch ground.Made them stop that though.
they had those things in Maricopa county jail but sheriff joke and his merry band of nazis were ordered to stop using them after inmates who were not convicted of anything died.

I been in that facility, I been in those chairs. One thing, those COs don't play out there,they will fuck you up and love it. This whole thing looked like some video clip from Abu Ghraib. The whole "correctional" platform of degradation and sadism bled through the entire video. The detachment and desensitization of these "correctional" "people" was so blatantly clear -- they are disgraceful.

Clearly the officer can be seen hitting the inmate Three (3) times or more in the head/face, this is clearly unacceptable and he should not only be fired he should be prosecuted as well. The inmate was restrained and apparently spitting at the officers (another charge) he should have had a face mask put on…but at no time should he have been physically abused.
Lets hope, after this guy serves his jail term, he does not go out into the world angrier then angry before he went into jail, he would be like a ticking timebomb amongst the community if he was an angry criminal made angrier after being physically abused in jail.

Half the Correction Officers I met while working as a cook at the MCC were cowards....they would kick the doors at night while the inmates were sleeping and stuff. One inmate came out of his cell and clocked one after being harrassed by one. The CO got what he had coming, The Punk!!

If you want to get even with them, just be a better person then any of them. I have a house, a nice car, all the man toys I could want. Clearly the officer can be seen hitting the inmate Three (3) times or more in the head/face, this is clearly unacceptable and he should not only be fired he should be prosecuted as well. The inmate was restrained and apparently spitting at the officers (another charge) he should have had a face mask put on…but at no time should he have been physically abused.

I watched this again. This was clearly never about "safety," or "security." This was about correctional officers and nurses showing their true colors without being cognizant of the rolling video. These "correctional" folks appear to salivate at the first remote opportunity to use force, use tasers and use spit masks to degrade and humiliate. At the base level, this is really just about run-of-the-mill sadism.
My heart goes out to that obviously mentally ill inmate.
