Compare this great show and its REAL entertainment value to the sad shallow boring offerings we see today like Big brother, get me out of here and other rubbish..no wonder we say the GOOD old days!..the thing is ..its not till you get older that you realise the truth in that saying!..am so glad i experienced "It's A Knockout" in my young teens...i must of laughed myself silly listening to Eddie waring and Stuart hall and watching the contestants falling over and all wearing daft costumes lol!.
Royal Artillary (MOD) - You have a contract with the BBC - you're doing it ! ;-) Say's it all ! Nothing has changed ! The media is owned by those that control the politicians, such as the Murdoch Mafia ... ( their campaign funders 'The Friends Of Israel' & others ) so sad but true.
Stuart Halls infectious laugh, ( Neuro Linguistic programing ) is what I experience evrey time I see the 3 cabbage patch dolls, Cameron, Clegg, & Millionaireband give a speach ! ;-)
@TheDiddlysquat WTF! Yet another person who sees, racism, sexism, ageism and whatever-ism you want to see! You would be well suited in communist china, infact why dont you try it there, then you would see that this country is not so bad after all!!
This was tremendous fun. I find television so serious and depressing nowadays. It was a lot of fun back in the 70's and stuart Halls laughter epitomised it. If it were brought back it would be sanitised by health and saftely.
We bought the original kit about 15yrs ago, pleased to say it is still hugely popular, we host the Original BBC It's A Knockout on a daily basis throughout the Summer! Plus, Stuart still entertains on occasion with his most memorable laugh!
it was the greatest friday evening program ever, stuart hall and eddie waring and when they went into europe they were joined by genaro, an italin referee i think. so many great memories, it does beat all the tosh on tv now. i don't think you could bring it back now thou, health and safety would put a stop to that but at least we can see it here.
Wow, I had no idea there was a UK version of the show (obviously pre-dating the Aussie version by MANY years)! I always thought the show came from those insane Japanese shows like this... did they get the idea from the UK, then? :D
Friday evenings during the summer holidays in the '70s, I don't think I missed an episode. A fantastic show. Heck, I didn't even mind going back to school after the holidays, cos I knew Jeux Sans Frontieres would be soon!!
I was too young to see Its a Knockout, but its a shame shows like these don't exist anymore, I'm guessing because of health & safety which has destroyed any sense of fun. So what if people may of got hurt, they even acknowledged that its just about having a laugh. Now we have to put with Dale Winton armed with a plastic wall which pushes z-list 'celebrities' into a paddling pool. Pathetic! Oh yh, Stuart Hall is a legend too!
If the bbc are strapped for cash then scrap all reality tv shows and get stuat hall and its a knockout back on the tv. They bbc already show the embaressingly bad total wipe out which is filmed in Argentina so why not film knockout again in the uk instead?
Stuart Hall ought to have got hitched to Prunella Scales - that'd have been a match made in heaven. Bring this show back to TV, fuck these miserable political correctoids and the fun police in the health and safety departments.
This is probably the funniest televsion I have ever seen and I was born in 84. From what I can tell it all went down hill from 82. My parents hold it in high regard. I suppose as I do with The Fast Show or Vic and Bob. However, EXCELLENT! thanks for the vid MetaltronMKII
"And he's coming up to the bridge, will he make it across? Nooooo......... hahahahahahaaaaaaa hahahahahahaha hahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaa ohhh haha And he's getting up now..... oh, but he's fallen over!! hahahahahaaaaaaaaaaa hahahahahahaaaaaaa hahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Will he make it this time? No, he's slipped into the water!! hahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaa hahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaa".
Friday nights were the best...I think The Bill came on after this.......or was it Only Fools and Horses? Maybe Last of the Summer Wine? No, that was on Sundays. In any case, that's the type of stuff we should bring back.........
ELY 1973The best GB team ever if not JSF team. beat hertford 19-1 in their heat.JSF they won in NL with 41 pts .Then the JSF International final in paris They won with 43 pts.
In Germany the show ran as "Spiel ohne Grenzen" (Games without Frontiers) where our teams contested against each other for the pan European finale. It sure was great fun, we usually watched it with the whole family.
Back then also the finale was special because it was people from different countries being silly all together and in good fun.
Wipeout is lacking the positive energy imho. created by teams being supported by ppl from their cities - not even an audience. :P
Yes..Speil Ohne Grenzen. My mother was German and each year as a boy I would go over to Bavaria and this show was on a lot, it was very popular, you Germans always beat us poor brits!!
Oh, come on! Not *allways*! *YOU* guys have Doctor Who! That alone should count for something! And then your granddads kicked our granddads arses at those two wars... ;) (and may I add - I'm grateful they did so!)
I try my best. :) I have some good teachers to thank for it, I believe - Pratchett, Adams, The Pythons, Red Dwarf, I'm sorry I haven't a clue... ^^ I'm a big fan of what we call "British humour" over here... ;)
I haven't been to Deutschland for 30 years..do they still show the Taggeshau every evening ?, I remember the chimes at about 6 every evening when I was over there.
Fantastic. I remember when the GB team actually won one of the grand european finals - I think they had to build an eiffel tower in the last game. Made you proud to be British - even as a kid..... Also remember a great game where an orchestra had to stay on a platform that was slowly tipping, whilst wet sponges were thrown at them. - Watch Total Wipeout USA on WATCH channel - they've got the right idea - just needs to catch on again.... if the PC's will leave them alone!
I used to love Friday nights, Dad used to get sweets from the shop and we'd watch It's a knockout. I loved it and it should be brought back after we've told the PC brigade to go and do one.
Thanx MetaltronMKII for uploading this! I was crying with laughter and it took me back to the 70's when my Family and I used to watch this on Friday evenings on TV!!! BRILLIANT!!! :D
Fantastic - brought back all those memories of long summer evenings with three TV channels, no facebook or bebo, no mobile phones and no knife crime - I am wiping a tear!
Brilliant, hilarious, all before this country went to the dogs with elf an saifte idiots.
Stuart Hall allegedly had a shop in Manchester called Stuart Hall International Travel (shortened to S H I T - appropriate name for today's TV rubbish).
