@LuckyLuxy This planet TrES-2b is around 750.000 light years away mate. What i found fascinating is its mass absorption of light. We just dont know why / how its doing this.
TrES-2b is 750,000 light years away. It has been recently discovered so yes everything about the planet will be unknown for more than ~750,000 years. We will learn more about it over time but not much will be known. Its the same way with millions to billions of other objects we have found to be odd and stunning. A better option would be picking something that is closer to try to learn about. We are seeing the planet at ~750,000 years ago, it could also not be there any more.
@MilitaryMan006 I understand your reasoning and logic, if i was talking just about earth. Because if there is any unknown elements they would almost certainly be radioactive with short halflives. However since we know hardly anything about exoplanets & even then thats only 0.1% of the universe. Closing the book on finding new elements would be a shame, however thats my opinion & i respect yours.
@shitface046 Its more about its unusual ways or not reflecting light, they want to know how & why.
@JASONMOORE87 Its not a matter of reflecting light, but how much of it it absorbs... ie a green cloth of paper absorbs all other wavelegnths of light other than green, which is what this planet is doing it is absorbing all wavelegnths. I acknowledge that there may be new chemicals out there (OR LIVING THINGS) that are doing this on the planet, absorbing the light. Being a gas planet, most likely chemical...
@JASONMOORE87 It was only fifteen years ago scientists said planets could not, EVER exist outside of our solar system. Until two Swedish men found the first one (51 Pegasi b, unofficially dubbed Bellerophon) in October 95. So if they were wrong about that, what other 'facts' are up for question? Nothing can trravel faster than the speed of light, apart from those particles that were on the news last night.
Suddenly, new elements don't sound all that far fetched.
@Dhomess Actually, we have already discovered every naturally occuring element, that is why the periodic table is FULL. Any other elements that are artificially created, would have to be so dense that they decay within a few seconds. We have also made all possible isotopes. I have made a claim and backed it up. You on the other hand have not.
0:53 esplane? its explain, im joking, well about taking the piss, i cant write proberly so ah well, but your new styles is great, will continue to follow for long time coming, but make more on your games channel, their funny :)
It'll probably be more complicated than a new element I reckon though it's fascinating stuff. Loving these new style of vids by the way. Keep it up son :)
I really enjoy watching your videos, I hope all is well over in the UK. When I first heard about this planet the first thing that popped into my head was the Vin Diesel movie (forget it's title)
@brandoman79 him playing riddick in pitch black? (the second one is the chronicles of riddick) thats the only one i cant think of thats to do with dark, but its a different reason why, the reason here is uknown as the sun does dot dissapear, the planet is simply always dark
@GpB217 Dude, thats nothing! Lets try "Dual Supermassive Black Hole Systems" whats scary is they are more common than we once thought, and they are deadly as f***
@GpB217 I think it was when they merge together & make gravity go crazy or something. its fucked up shit. i remember reading the biggest black hole was the size of 18 billion suns, that makes me feel small like damn.
@brumster01 Space exploration is a conflicting issue for many reasons, it costs billions upon billions just to maintain itself. In a perfect world i agree you 10000%. The world should really unite together, but the big nations & the wealthy are all competing with eachother, thus lowering the expectation & final budget. Sad irony isnt it.
@JASONMOORE87 When it comes to mankind's understanding of the universe we've only just begun to scratch the surface. I think it's even more fascinating that this Gas Giant's extremely low geometric albedo is present considering it is a Hot Jupiter.
I didn't expect a video like this from you Jay, but i'm sure you also have a browse through iplayer from time to time hoping that someone like Professor Brian Cox has made a new astronomy documentry or something such as myself.

i love talking about space and galaxy's. The word infinity i am lol so amazed by, is space infinity, thats never ending, has to end somewhere's don't it...infinity? crazy crazy crazy
So is this the Black Planet that Public Enemy were talking about when they named their third album "Fear of a Black Planet"? I keed I keed. Great vid as always :)
@Snestastic Its closer to its sun in distance than our earth is to our sun. Yet when light shines towards that planet it doesnt seem to reflect back, only less than 1% does. Thats why it now holds the title of "The Darkest Planet" the question is why!!
@YouNMe1 I felt his love for space fit the video, hope you agree.
@xkillaz18x A never ending universe is possible, if not a certainty, yet for us humans to try and understand the logic it causes us headaches & confussion lol.

Someone gave that planet the buisness, thats what happened a deadly lazer ray! i wonder about black holes, space is awesome, it's the ultimate mind fuck, trying to imagine whats on the otherside of a blackhole or how something can actually be infinite. technically we could be just fragile creatures floating on a piece of natural occuring space debris, in the path of a larger object who's trajectory could shatter it all. how the mind wanders lol.
