  • thats nice.

  • which seuthe number is this???

    Thanks

  • @acgbakerboy777 SEUTHE #100

  • I like Challengers but you have one that smokes to much. Next time can you put less smoke fluid in your Challenger. John M.

  • @Poppops37 Thank you, I will do that.

  • @Poppops37 it wont matter how much smoke comes out it just matters how much you put in

  • Thats a cool locomotive and how long does it usually take till you have to add more smoke fluid?

  • @2124reading thanks, if smoke unit is ON takes 5-10 minutes to smoke it depends also on voltage.

  • @dcctrain ok thanks.

  • Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought all UP Challengers had twin exhaust stacks? That looks like a single.

Nevertheless, that looks like a awesome smoke unit!

  • @M1911A1 the original 12 had single and some of the newer ones had been modified with a split double stack that came into 1 to save space.

  • Is the smoke hot / warm???

  • That's the best HO smoke unit I ever seen!!!!

  • @Petemonster62 I have agre with ya there mine dont throw off half that much smoke unless i over load the boiler

  • Athearn Genesis is very high quality, but I like BLI blue line it is less expensive, but they discontinued.

  • Which is better... a big boy or a challenger???

  • What smoke unit number is that? like # 27, #15, or # 10 as an example

  • @knightbob81 SEUTHE #10 with some modifications of the boiler.

  • they breaks wires easy! I glued it into the loco then out of the blue a wire popped off the chimney part. USELESS rubbish crap now.

  • @Nevawake what are you talking about?

  • @dcctrain I bought a sleuth generator. Fitted it onto my limited edition flying scottsman. Moved the wires ever so little to solder to the dcc chip. WHAT? There i see the inner wire to the stack has just fell off!!! So now ive got a smoke generator with one wire, the brown wire. And the other just dropped off! So how do i fix that? Resolder? How. Ive yet to know if this can be repaired. Lost the reciept so cant refund.

  • @dcctrain im just bit annoyed thats all. $55 nothing to show for it if i cannot fix :-( and lack of faith to just go buy another. DAMN! Im shore they are great smoke generators however wiring maybe i got a dud.

  • @dcctrain whats better a bigboy or a challenger

  • @myjuto369 I like TRIX big boy, I this this is the best model of Big Boy in my personal opinion..

  • @dcctrain i gotta a bib boy all blak 4005

  • @Nevawake It is SEUTHE, did you get it from us?

  • @dcctrain NO. I did not get it from you guys in the US. I got it here in Perth Australia. while attending a model train exhibition last year. Yes it was a SEUTHE. I still got the oil :-) Keep Well.

  • How long does the 50 ml of smoke fluid used in this timeof generator when used constantly last?

  • Generator takes about 6-10 drops from special applicator and it last 5-10 minutes, I can turn on/off generator with DCC system.

  • May i ask what kind of smoke unit you have? I do electrics on the NEC, but i have a pair of steam engines, a Lionel Challenger, and a BLI J1. I have a DCC system. whats a good smoke generator for these units?

  • SEUTHE Smoke #10, engine require some modification to installed smoke units. We are selling them on line store DCCTRAIN . COM

  • how much do those usually cost?

  • It discontinued, on eBay around $600

  • my train with a seuthe smoke unit in, the oil lasts for about 5hrs of running!

  • Comment removed

  • @bignos29 SEUTHE OIL.

  • Hi, I never sow just steam generators, I sow HO engines running on steam. My guess for smoke steam generators it is require more heat to make steam, potential issue with power to get it work especially in HO, just my theory.

  • Hi. Um....if a you have a ho steam train that blows smoke, can you put water in it instead of smoke liquid?

  • No, you will screw up the smoke generator like I did when I did what you just said )))

Tried coocking oil. it kinda works but it's a bit thick. It requires a light oil.

  • It works great with DCC Seuthe #10 just fine, it takes about 159 mAmps per smoke unit.

  • Sorry to hear about this issue, probably incorrect operating voltage and long working time. Also it must have smoke fluid all the time.

  • How long does the smoke last before needing a refill? I'm buying a Big Boy soon and want to get it to smoke like that if I can...but don't want to have to stop it too much to refill the stacks...

  • With out decoder 8-12 minutes, It depends on smoke unit operating voltage and voltage on the track, with DCC or Digital Control you can turn it on and off, also most advanced decoders like ESU, LENZ have function output voltage control this can increase time.

  • Oh, that's quite good then, I was thinking 3-5 mins..which I didn't want...hmm...does DCC work with normal track power, or will I need to(I have it, but my club doesn't) have DCC only for the DCC stuff to work?

  • This one it is working on DC with MRC black box.

  • It is an option. I installed smoke unit.

I can put smoke unit practically into any HO engine with empty space in the stack area

  • I thought that smoke units in HO engines melted the plastic around the unit. That happend to one of my engines.

  • Is the smoke unit an option?

Are you put on BigBoy of Genesis?

  • From your shop in February

Because I want to install it in it, could you introduce the smoke

unit though Athearn Genesis HO 4-8-8-4 Big Boy UP#4024 was bought?

Because it is difficult to obtain it in Japan
