We considered it bad luck on my floor (4th Floor Whitcraft, early '90s) to know the lyrics to the fight song. So we just sang, "Ball State, Ball State, BALLLL STAAATE! Ball State, Ball State, Ball State..." throughout the entire song.
To this day, if I begin to hear its lyrics, I plug my ears and go LA LA LA LA LA...
