@afeilding White bar tapes used to be the pro choice. But I don't think that applies anymore. Lance Armstrong rode a Trek Madone with black bartape when he was riding for Radioshack. I don't think he's an amateur.

@afeilding I agree I am not too keen on black socks. However, mtbs and road pros do wear them. Even the Tour De France brand manufactures black socks. Reminds me of the nerdy Japanese tourists. The only thing is most saddles are in black and white. So its kinda limited. :)
