@cameltooth1 YEAHHHH i asked mayall about bloomie when i say him last month, and he said he invited him to be in the bluesbreakers, but due to mayall playing gigs almost some nights going to 2 different towns, it effected bloomies insomnia so he declined, i think they did a few concerts together at filmore but it was never recorded. fucking shame
@DazedConfused1969 That would have been really good sounding. John Mayall is a monster of blues. He is always mentioned with the guitarists that played in his group. He is a great pianist and harmonica player and can sing. Taylor's period is my favorite, but Clapton was fiery and wonderful then.
@cameltooth1 Yes i agree, and mayall is one of the greats man, his voice and emoiton in his harmonica is what gets me - see "so many roads" live at the fillmore 1968 with mick taylor his voice and harmonica just loses me :O
@DazedConfused1969 I've heard it and "Soul of a Short Fat Man" where Keef Hartley takes a solo. "It's My Own Fault" is the best version of that song besides Johnny Winter or B.B. himself. U must hear John Mayall 1982, jammin' with blues greats. Mick Taylor is good there, too.
@cameltooth1 I was watching that a few days ago, albert king to be precise, was really good blues to hear, albert king is a weird character in a way but i wish mick taylor would solo more on that, i hope taylor will tour with mayall soon
I love Mick Taylor's controlled feedback from the sustain and overdrive. He's a the master of being so blue and getting the rock n roll grittiness as well. Each guitarist is good and unique, but I prefer Mick T. playing the notes we always hear in blues and everything. His tone and feeling are what I'm referring to. I love Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, and Hendrix too. Jimmy adds more jazz chords,+ harsh gritty rock n roll. Clapton was heavy with Mayall and Cream. Jimi H. was jazz and rock tone.
I saw this tour in NY in 82. Still one of my favorite shows ever. Every Taylor solo was different, incredible tone. I used to have this show on VHS, long gone. Thanks for posting.
a few years ago a couple went out to dinner. later that night the babysitter called and asked if she could put a sheet over the clown statue in the kids bedroom. the father said "get the kids out of the house and I'll call the police. we don't own a clown statue." it turned out that the clown was a murderer escaped from jail. if you don't repost this message on 10 videos the clown will be in your bedroom tonight at 3am with a chainsaw sorrry I did this I was scared
It is not a Buddy Guy tune. He stole it from Roberts Gedddins and Ronald Badger who sued him. Unfortunately for them, the case was heard in Chicago. John Hammond tells the whole story well. Theft in blues is as old as blues and as recent as Dylan's CD Modern Times which attributes to Dylan authorship of Muddy Waters tunes!!!
Nice! I saw John Mayall in the past year.. and he is still really young in concert! I was so impressed with his age and his energy! This video is very good!
eric clapton plays the blues, peter green is the blues, but mick taylor has the blues in his soul so deeply
