@fairfresh I suppose so, but that's not pure CO2. There are other gases in the air. Air is mostly made of Nitrogen gas, more than 3/4 to be precise, while CO2 only makes up a small percentage. In this experiment, pure CO2 was produced, which is heavier than air, which is why is sank so fast..

Hi there,

Is there anything we could do to speed up the reaction? Using more acid and base? Increasing the PH value of base and decreasing the PH value of acid? Will this all help?

@yipfai No you need to find a way to create more CO2 PH has nothing to do with CO2. If u take a bigger density and warm up both materials this may help you get a faster reaction. Also Na2CO3 (soda) isn't a base.
