@BrotherBadSeed. you should definitely see it. Just don't sit and compare to the original as some do. I prefer to judge as a movie in its own right, not as a remake (and I am a huge fan of the whole series). Regardless, I absolutely loved it and I'd recommend it to anyone.

The original is much more rough around the edges but Rutger Hauer is brilliant in it. If you like him in Blade Runner you'll love him in the original version of The Hitcher

Sean Bean is such a cool A***ole in this movie, a guy like that could really make your life a living hell. The coolest scene is, when our heros are hunted on the freeway by the police and The Hitcher cames to HELP in a black trans am, stopping the police. Its so cool, just the ending is a bit lame I think, but judge for yourselve. All in all a very cool movie.

There's only one Hitcher film, and that is the original, and Rutger Hauer is the ONLY John Ryder.

This remake looks quite good but I'm not sure of Sean Bean's version of John Ryder is anywhere near as good as Rutger Hauer's memorable role which he portayed of the hitcher. The original is still a great film to this day. If anyone thinks that "The Hitcher" (1986) is bad film there's something seriously wrong with them.

i don't think this one will be nearly be as good as the first, but i'm really upset that they are compering rutger hauer to sean bean. honestly. sean bean is okay as an entertainer but acting wise his not that good. now rutger is so creative when he acts it's alomost mind blowing. you can tell from the trailer the sean beans acting isn't nearly as good as rutgers. when comes to playing weird characters no-body beats the other europeon country's (not in-cluding england)
