@seempels I agree. It's really wonderful! I also like very much Kowalski's version of this great aria on YT! I first heard it in his interpretation and it impressed me so much! Both great artists!
Thanks so much for posting this. One of the many wonderful things about Bach is that his output is so vast that one can discover new masterpieces throughout one's entire life. I love hearing works I know well, but it is very special to hear a new work (new to me!) like this one. Also, it can be enlightening to hear a familiar movement from a big work all by itself, completely out of context. It can be almost like hearing it for the first time.
A heart rendering movement from this Cantata. What can I say...not of this earth. In a similar vein, I also like BWV 54 first movement, "Widerstehe doch der Sünde" with Glen Gould version on harpsipiano with orchestra. Also "Erbarme dich" from Matthaus Passion is also a heart stirring piece. How sad to see such beautiful music under appreciated in this modern world of noise making for the masses.
i agree with you on Erbarme Dich. It's my favorite piece that Scholl sings. Literally gives me goosebumps and forces me to close my eyes while i listen to it.
This is PERFECTION. The problem is, the melody and performence are so perfect and beautiful, that's it's like a drug addiction and a torture in the same time when I listen to it.
Andreas Scholl does the aria justice, but the real miracle is the aria itself; one of J.S.Bach's most wonderful compositions. I can hear echoes of "Tief gebuckt und voller Reue"...

Sent shivers down my spine, thanks for posting. Would love to hear him singing the countertenor aria in BWV 115, Pascal Bertin does it in the Suzuki version. That is wonderful.
This is one of the most beautiful to listen to of all the Bach I have ever listened to. Scholl is to this as Kozena is to Contata bwv 199
