  • Hello,

Does anyone know the title of the intro song to this show? for years I have loved the intro, if anyone knows could they post? thank you...love the show...

  • Hey! I love this song too! The music is composed by Ian Ritchie (the composer for the Pilot Guides series). It just referred to as the original Lonely Planet song on the Ian Ritchie website or the Pilot Guides intro on the GlobetrekkerTV section on the Pilot Guides website. You can download this song if you like from the pilot guides website. Hope this helps!

  • Once again...amazing work! :) I too could be fooled thinking this was the real show itself! Keep it up , follow your dreams!

  • Thanks!!! Be sure to check out the pilot guides forum so you can chat with me and other fans of the show!! Take care!

  • wow great job! i thought it was the real show for a good few minutes =)

  • Really?? :) Thanks such a cool thing to say, thanks! Glad you liked it! If you like Pilot Guides, you should check out the Pilot Guides website and join the forum so you can exchange your thoughts and travel stories with other fans of the show! :)

I've traveled to different places because of my job and I posted some info on my blog. Please check it out and let me know what you think. I still have to improve many things, but I'm working on it. Congrats once more and good luck.

  • Hi Cinthia. Fantastic and inspiring production!!! I thought I was seeing the real show!!! What kind of equipment and editing program are you using?

    Regards.

  • KP4ABC, hey, thanks for the great comments!! We were using a SANYO Xacti video camera and an older digicam (from about 5-7 years ago) from SONY (don't remember the specs). I used Adobe Premiere to edit. Thanks for visiting!!

  • Hey Cynthia ! Great video as usual, We can really feel in the video your big interest in what you are doing, keep smiling and keep going and one day you'll surely be one of the GT team !

    Greetings from Belgium !

  • Bravo ! Cynthia, mille fois bravo!. surf in USA...

  • Merci! Je suis très contente que tu aimes le video!!

  • hey cynthia! i love your third video, it has improved considerably since your first two (tho those 2 were still good). you're so inspiring, i've always wanted to be a globetrekker host as well, but i've yet to fill up my resume with countries to visit before i apply. maybe in a couple of years when i'm older and have saved up enough, hehe. but anyway, hope you really do get the globetrekker job, you'll be a great host. :D

  • nuninoo, hey!! Thanks so much! You should definately apply!! You have nothing to lose right?! :) Thanks so much for your comments, you are so sweet!

  • Great job Cynthia.I thought I was watching a Globetrekker video. Very professional-looking with lots of energy and moved at a much better pace than previous Quebec video. One area that you might think about improving is perhaps including some crazy cultural element that reveals something about the uniqueness of L.A. people(observe Deep South and San Francisco episodes). One ex. is Food. Every GT episode has some time designated to cultural foods/restaurants in the area.

  • ah yes, very true iloveram. I did not include food in this video. I had a lot of footage to choose from but unfortunately, I did not have much footage of food. Next time! Thanks for the comments :)

  • Good job, I would have liked to see the Footprints and Handprints a little closer in the actual video, but the commontary is good. A little more commontary over the surfing and rock climbing I seemed to be looking for, but again good job!.....

  • Thanks genroo for your input! I'll keep those suggestions in mind for next time :)

  • good work again Cynthia, I enjoyed this one a lot,and it seems you enjoyed making it too :D.

I hope you can do all your plans :)

    My best from Spain

  • sesen86, thank you for the nice wishes :)

  • great job yet again. keep up the good work.

  • Thanks marvin84! :)

  • Geez, i can't believe Pilot Guides hasn't given you a shot at presenting! They need some new talent. SO cynthia...if they DO come calling and they offer you a spot, would you accept it? That would be a dream come true for me - make a living from traveling!! :D

  • TrekkMonkey, I would grab it in a second! :)

Thanks for the encouragement TrekkMonkey. If you want to make a living from travelling, maybe you should apply to Pilot Guides too! :)

  • Hey Cynthia! Great video - looks like you had an awesome time in LA. The variety of activities you did was great and by including different activities that you were interested in that aren't often associated with LA (canyonering and para-gliding) you gave this video your own personal touch. Great use of music as well with a nice transition from Madonna to Jack Johnson. And as usual, the outtakes at the end are funny. I hope this one gets noticed!

  • amyallcock, I hope it gets noticed too! I had a great time in LA and I really tried to cover activities that LA was known for and also not known for, just to show the diversity in LA. We got a lot of good footage and it was really hard to make the video only 7 minutes!! Thanks for your comments!

  • Hi Cynthia,

I just wanted to say that your vids are all really good and this one is even better. I sure hope Pilot Productions notices all the effort you put into this. You seems to have the whole package to be a great presenter (and the fact that you speak perfect french is certainly an asset). We need a canadian presenter on the show. Good luck!

  • jonmatte82, I agree, it would be great to have a Canadian presenter on the show! :) Thanks for the great comments! I'm happy you enjoyed the video!!

  • Content and flow: very good.

    Sound: well done

    Picture Quality:

I am not sure if youtube affected the picture quality. It should be better.

If youtube allows high definition that would be great.

What software did you use for the video editing? Did the original camera frames straight to computer look better, (more clear)? wmf files are not recommended as intermediate files in editing process.

  • Thanks moisture bunny :)

YouTube will only let you upload videos less than 100 MB. I had to compress my video to get just under 100 MB and when I uploaded it to YouTube, my video was compressed furthur. I can provide a higher resolution copy if you like. :) I used Adobe Primere Elements to edit and it seemed to work well without too many glitches.

  • Hi Cynthia - Another very enjoyable video. I can tell you had a great time in LA-la land. Definitely a hard city to cover in detail given the size and busyness of it all, especially in 5 minutes. I think I like your LA video a bit better than the Kingston one, but I still like the Québec City one best, although I think this one flows together best. Any attention from Pilot Guides yet? I still think all of your videos should have caught their eye! Where to next?

  • katarchaea, thanks for the nice comments. No word from Pilot Guides but a lot of good comments from fans of the show and that makes me really happy. :) I'm not sure where next yet but if I do ever decide to make another, I will let you know :) I'm glad you like the Quebec City one so much. I like it a lot too. :)

  • Always a good watch, have you considered maybe starting an independent travel webshow of your own? I feel like you could pull something off as professional as the Pilot Guide series?

  • kickliquid, interesting idea! I love making these travel videos so who knows what may come of it! I am a huge fan of Pilot Guides so I would love to work for the series. Another idea I've had and currently developing is to make renewable energy/sustainable living video segments that would combine my research and passion for green energy (renewable energy and sustainability) with my interest in film. Thanks for your comments :)

  • Dear Cinthya, coungratulations for your video! I liked it very much! Unfortunatly, I must confess that I didn't like it as I liked the Kingston one.Maybe at Kingston you resumed better the ambience of the city. However, it must be said that resuming LA must be very difficult, and it takes a lot of guts to try. So, again, be proud of yourself! You are doing a great job (under my opinion, of course^^).

  • Erethras, thanks for the comments. LA is a hard city to film as it is a very fast pace city and there are so many people and things that LA is known for and not known for and unfortunately sometimes things slip and don't make it into the video. I tried my best but certainly I could have tried to give a better idea of the ambience I agree.

Thanks again for the comments. :)

  • great video Cynthia!

  • martincathrae, glad you got a chance to take a look. Perhaps we should make a video when we go camping next year?

  • haha I was thinking the same thing. :)

  • martincathrae, alright it's a deal!

  • Hi Cynthia. Great new adventure! Looks like you're having a blast. Gnarly surfing and waterfall scenes! Take care. ;-)

  • Hey photo2010, thanks I'm glad you enjoyed the surfing and waterfalls. They were both very fun to do! :)

  • Hey Cynthia - FAB showreel. Totally excellent! Love the waterfall scene, I got vertigo just watching. By the time you wake up and read this you'll be on our website. :)

  • pilotguides, you certainly keep the pilotguides community (me especially) a very happy one! Thank you so much. You are very thoughtful and so helpful. I'm so happy you enjoyed the video. I'm smiling ear to ear!!

  • Hi Cynthia, I really enjoyed the video. As always, you're doing a great job informing us about travel destinations. When are you coming out to Chicago? We have alot to see as well. Many ethnic neighborhoods, good food, nightlife, and cultural institutions. I am looking forward to your next vid! Take care.

  • oreyes45, I have been to Chicago 3 times and I do agree it would make a great video! Why don't you make one of your home city? I would love to see it! Glad you enjoy the video!! Thanks for commenting!

  • This is miles better than your previous videos, Cynthia! I continue to be impressed every single time; you're just a natural for this and you kept me interested the entire way through. The best part is, I don't even want to go to LA, but you made it all sound like a blast!

Have they contacted you about any of this yet? :)

  • Oh wow bluefox670!!! What a nice set of compliments! I'm so happy that you enjoyed the video and that you think I'm improving! I hope to keep improving as much as possible. And I am so delighted that even though you don't want to go to LA, that I made it sound like an interesting place to visit. That's awesome.

  • Bluefox670, I did have a fantastic time when I was down there, especially when I got away from the tourists spots. I thought that it would be a good idea to cover what LA is known for naturally (the beaches, hollywood), but there is so much more than that like the outdoors and the beautiful mountains.

Hey, thanks again for the nice words. Certainly a great comment to read before going to bed. Good night!

  • Bluefox670, I haven't heard back from Pilot Productions (yet!) regarding any of the showreels but I've had a lot of people (from YouTube and the Pilot Guides Forum) tell me that they like the videos and encourage me not to give up, so that's certainly makes me want to keep on trying! I just finished this video yesterday so I haven't sent a copy yet to the company.

  • Great set of activities different from movie-related paraphernalia you found there ... good editing as always! the trekker doing a lot of stuff...good idea!

  • Hey thanks pascaweb! There is lots to do and lots to see in Los Angeles! The city is quite diverse and I tried to portray that in my video. Thanks for the comments!

  • This is excellent material. Professionally made. Love it. All the Best.

  • Thanks ls1982lsls for the nice comments! You are very sweet!

  • That was cool! Looks like you have a blast in Los angeles. Was that your first time surfing? Fun stuff, eh? Good job...!

  • TrekkMonkey, I had a really good time in LA. I tried my hand at many new things - surfing, canyoneering and paragliding! Quite an exciting set of experiences! They were a blast! Thanks for commenting :)

  • like it :-)

  • karpiuPL, that's great! Thanks for commenting :)

  • Great Video Cynthia - keep in up!! I'm impressed with the shots you can get on your little point and shoot.

You're making me think that I should make one of Yellowknife - or maybe you can come and visit and we can do it together!!

    All the best in Kingston

    Richard

  • Zavitz84, for this showreel, I used a different set of cameras. One was a Sanyo Xacti which was small and was pretty sharp, the other was an older camcorder that was a bit bigger but still had pretty good resolution. I wanted to use two so that I could shoot using different angles. I do think you should make a video of Yellowknife, for sure! From your last e-mail, your photos were soooo beautiful, I can't wait to visit!!! Miss you Richard and thanks for commenting!

  • thanks a lot! Will you still be auditioning for the actual Globetrekker series?

  • Brinah, for sure, I will be submitting my showreel to Pilot Productions in the next few weeks. Thanks for commenting!!

  • You have no idea how much I envy you at this point. Great video. How long were you in LA for? Curious to know about your experience there.

  • Hey Hyperblaze, I was in LA for about 1 week and the video was shot over about 3-4 of those days. My itinerary was pretty packed! I had a really good time though! There was so much video footage that it was hard to cut it down to 7 minutes. Glad you like it - I hope to see you soon :) Miss ya!
