@215vanessa Seriously? I'm Christian and I go to church and I don't see anything wrong with Atheists celebrating Christmas. Yeah, it first started out as a holiday celebrating Jesus' birth. But over the years, like Nerdfighter said, it's changed and evolved into something EVERYONE should be allowed to celebrate. Sure, gifts are nice, but the spirit is what makes it so fun and festive. Get over it.

I'm atheist but my family and I still celebrate Christmas, and let me tell you it's not because of the presents. It's because of everything these girls sing about. The love, the happiness, the giving other people presents, and picking out a tree. Yes, I know Christmas is a Christian holiday about Jesus Christ, and I think that's beautiful even if I don't believe. But please do NOT accuse ANYONE who celebrates Christmas of only caring about presents. That's just not right.

Sorry for the accusation, on reflection I see those words were inappropriate and hasty. But I do think "Christmas" should be limited only to those celebrating the birth of Jesus, if you're celebrating something else, a pagan festival, a few days off work or school, presents, ETC. give it a different name. Because unless you're celebrating the birth of Christ you're not really celebrating CHRISTmas are you? (Sorry if that sounded defensive, it wasn't meant to).

Yeah, to many people it's still about Jesus Christ, but to some it's just about the season, and we're not going stop calling it Christmas because we don't believe in Christ. We don't think of it as CHRISTmas, just...Christmas.
