when my ipod is in recovery mode i hold down shift and click restore but it doesnt come up with a window that allows me to select a file. it just comes up with a window with some writing on it and at the bottom it has 2 options.

'Restore and Update' & 'Cancel'. i click restore and update but it just goes through a long process and when its done my ipod hasnt changed :S
