Mate I am a Pukka Indian Punjabi and my mother used to sing this song in weddings and other family gatherings in early 60's. In fact, I have recordings of Parkash Kaur going back to days around partiition that this song was sung. It is a folk song of punjab! neither Indian nor pakistani but punjabi.

@Pradeepgoyal mate I am also a Pukka Pakistani Punjabi Munda & What I Found That Farida Khanum Is The Original Singer Of This Song. She Stopped Recording (Not Singing) In 1960-1964.So i guess It Was Sung By Her In Early 60's.So I am Pretty Sure She Is The Original Singer of This Song...You Can Prove Me Wrong But Only If You Can.. :-)
