This is a lie - there ARE arguments against purely-free migration on private-property and Freedom of Association grounds. What Libertarians are AGAINST is restrictions on immigration for purely political reasons, because that only encourages people to jump the fence.

I live in San Diego and the fence forced smugglers to softer parts of the border chiefly Arizona. Our crime and smuggling dropped while smuggling and crime jumped in Arizona. The fence worked. A physical deterrent as well as a legal deterrent will significantly reduce drug and human trafficking. Period. the fence has a place in securing the border as well as prosecuting those that break immigration laws. Unfortunate lobbying groups have sapped the political will to do so.

Except that's bullshit. You have to have a social security number to receive benefits and the majority of immigrants are gainfully employed. The fact is immigrants prop up our economy and keeping them out would actually hurt us more.

I think to solve the illegal problem is to offer absolutely no jobs or whatever for people that come here, like have some kind of permit that is only obtained if you obtain a visa not like a study permit or whatever you have to have a visa,no visa, no work for you so no illegal immigrants I mean for real all they come here for is work and a better life but you cant live without a job. and also make it so you can't obtain social security without a visa either. Force doesn't solve this problem

I don't agree with him here. The fence is a good idea at the Souther border as long as it's monitored by video cameras to prevent hole drilling and ladders. And on top of that we need to start rounding up illegals and sending them back to their country of origin. No execeptions. If I was to enter another country illegally I would expect the same treatment. You either enter and stay legally or you don't. Simple as that. We need to stop dicking around and fix this immediately.

it obviously isn't working they spend 40 billion dollars a year on this department of homeland security and look how many immigrants we get in and as proven here a fence does no good. All they have to do is make it so the only way you can get work is by having a permanent relocation visa, if you cannot provide that you cannot work, buy anything like a car, house, whatever and puts lots of enforcement on it as well cause it is obvious that they are not, I think that would work better then force

The other side of the immigration issue is internal enforcement, which libertarians never address. The libertarian is view is that there should not be ANY restrictions on migration. Which is at the heart of their argument. Penn & Teller painted the same picture on their show. A bunch of racists hate Mexicans and want to seal the border. The "its too hard to come here" argument is BS. Tennessee is able to comply 100% with immigration law. Because they want to, but its too hard, no it is not.

This is a lie - there ARE arguments against purely-free migration on private-property and Freedom of Association grounds. What Libertarians are AGAINST is restrictions on immigration for purely political reasons, because that only encourages people to jump the fence.

When Drew Carey says it is "easier to sneak across the border he" seems to be arguing that our immigration laws should be centered around the desires of people that want to come to America instead of what is n the best interests of Americans.
If that is true then we would have quite literally MILLIONS of people flowing freely into the US. Libertarians tend to avoid the practical governing side of the immigration issue.

I live in San Diego and the fence forced smugglers to softer parts of the border chiefly Arizona. Our crime and smuggling dropped while smuggling and crime jumped in Arizona. The fence worked. A physical deterrent as well as a legal deterrent will significantly reduce drug and human trafficking. Period. the fence has a place in securing the border as well as prosecuting those that break immigration laws. Unfortunate lobbying groups have sapped the political will to do so.

I've always been against the fence as it is an incredibly foolish venture and the arguments from the supporters of it are frankly embarrassing. It is depressing to think that anyone is dumb enough to fall for them.
The way you fix this problem is by addressing our laws, first and foremost and like every other nation on Earth, STOP ANCHOR BABIES. That one is absolutely infuriating. Our government officials are criminal in their negligence of this and have been for many decades.

MOST jobs aren't threatened by cheap labor foreigners - cheap labor ENCOURAGES better paying jobs, by releasing more resources to investment, by lowering the costs of unskilled production. Most Americans would not want to flip burgers anyway, and most burger joints would not EXIST if they were made to pay UAW-like salaries.

CallMeBlu, you're missing the point: Americans are bid out of these jobs because of high cost of labor - migrant labor keep these costs low and products affordable. Get rid of the high costs of labor (regulation, payroll taxes, minimum wage laws) and Americans have a better shot.
But in the meantime, the demand for cheaper labor will continue to be high.

Instead of going after the illegals, go after the businesses that hire them. Get rid of social securitt, birth right citizenship, and all those damn free 'stuff.' We can't afford it anyway. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the illegals started leaving the U.S. because if the people allow the politicians and the central bank to rule over them, this country will be bad as well.

If those who wish to work have those 'guest worker deals' then fine. All those who work in this country need some kind of documentation. I'm not saying that the Feds should have the national I.D., which I'm against. The states have a right and a duty to know who is working in their state. If that means that the country needs to cut some red tape fine. But it's not fair for people who are here legally to compete with someone who is undocumented. It's for security purposes.
