@cuoredeinidi there is nothing "little" about her voice, perhaps lighter, But for a coloratura her voice is quite rich, full in fact! Battle even in her prime was a slightly weaker soubrette of a soprano in comparison, even Dessay is not as suited as Petibon is for these arias more 'lyrical' in nature. I'd compare Petibon to another great legendary French soprano a la par with her instrument, Sandrine Piau! :-)

I am a big, big fan of Dessay. Because of their both doing stuff with Emmanuelle Haim I was led to Petibon. I've felt, practically from the beginning of knowing both, that Petibon has the better voice and an uninhibited acting style as does Dessay. If Pitbon could, and she may, develop the interpretive, musical, and subtle acting abilities of Dessay... look out world!!

Usually I`m not much into modern-style production, but this one is really spot-on as interpretation (and cast!!) And, to my surprise, Petibon is indeed wonderful here. But her voice is so small... yep, but I can`t sing 'Der holle rache' and she manages to do it, along with Despina, rather nicely. I`m impressed.

I suppose if a soprano, with the talent that Patricia Petibon undoubtably has, wanted to screech out notes and phrases that Mozart wouldn`t have written in a million years, then Mozart`s own country is the place to do it in. This rendition of "Una donna a quindici anni" by Patricia is quite dreadful, and spoilt this whole version of "Cosi" for me.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but this woman has a massive (beautiful yep) voice & makes no effort to lighten it. Shame. You have to wonder at casting?? Perhaps they owe certain artists guaranteed bookings or summat?

I honestly believe she thinks she's showing off to us? But it crushed every delicacy, for me. Aren't good opera singers meant to draw attention to the music and not themselves//etc etc

Non sono daccordo che sia brutta come Despina. La regia rovina tutto quanto. L'orchestra sotto è pesante e non permette alla voce di fluire. La Petibon devo ammeterlo ha degli scatti di pazzia non male ma la voce è bella, adatta ai ruoli che canta. Bisogna evitare che entri in un contesto nel quale lei non c'entra nulla e un Mozart eseguito cosi e una tal ridicola scenografia non fanno altro che peggiorare.

Non mi piace l'applauso che parte a 5.50 prima che sia finita l'aria, rovina tutto!!! E poi questa Despina in generale è una delle peggiori che abbia visto finora, sinceramente... nn so se siete d'accordo. Non è niente in confronto a Cecilia Bartoli (al MET per esempio).

L'unica cosa bella di qst edizione è Miah Persson!!!!!!!!!

L'ho vista dal vivo martedì e devo dire che non è stata così male. La regia è una sciagura, ma in generale la compagnia di canto ha fatto un ottima figura. Oltre alla già citata Persson io vorrei aggiungere Lehtipuu. Secondo me è il migliore Ferrando in circolazione.

già, nella versione del 2006 a Glyndebourne è stato fantastico! Anche la Leonard mi piace, ma preferisco Anke Vondung come Dorabella (sempre a Glyndebourne).

Concordo pienamente. La Leonard ha cantato bee dal punto di vista tecnico, ma la sua interpretazione mi è parsa un pò "insipida". Lehtipuu, rispetto a Glyndebourne, è migliorato.
