From what I've gathered, it's about life from an animals point of view hence "I am a moth, that just wants to share your light" instead of the peoples view that moths are disgusting creatues, that should be killed, bug zapped, etc. "I am an animal, trapped in your hot car.": people leave there animals in there car while they shop etc. without a second thought. The animals still feel the heat :( wish i had more space. Any other ideas anyone?

when the in rainbows album was released i was worried that the band did overproduce the album-version of this song. Now some time later i can totally understand their decision... The album version is far more balanced and delicate, mainly because the piano notes at the end of the song are far more effective when they kick in without being there before that moment in the song. A musical masterpiece with great lyrics!
