If there isn't some kind of "master plan" running the show, people are fairly well screwed unless something changes. The reason the steam engine has been banned from reality is that it is extremely fuel efficient and can use solid fuel. Ahem! The Earth has an inner world. It's easy to figure out and they are probably running the show in order to avert a global cataclysm. With existing tech we could reduce our fuel usage to 1/10 the calories, but this is dissallowed. Where are UFOs from?
