  • What the hell is Bill doing in the sun?!

  • The problem with the True Blood aesop is that it is reasonable to discriminate against a creature that thirsts for your blood. So Im not sure its wise to compare that to real life predjudice.

  • @lollipopfop (Cont...) There are several points in Stoker's novel when direct contradictions between Count Dracula and Tepes are made (I.E. different ethnicities, castles located in wildly different locations etc.). You should read Leslie Klinger's 'New Annotated Dracula. He points out a lot of this stuff.

You'll notice one of the people interviewed in the video is James V. Hart, the screenwriter for Coppola's Dracula. If he hadn't made the mistake of directly associating Dracula with....

  • I'm going to try and say this in as civillized a manner as can be expected of me after watching this video: *ahem*

STOP DIRECTLY ASSOCIATING THE HISTORICAL VLAD TEPES WITH THE FICTIONAL CHARACTER CREATED BY BRAM STOKER, YOU RETARDED ASSHATS!!!

Wow...I usually don't do the whole all-caps-thing but I gotta say it felt kinda good.

  • @Fpiet Listen, you don't need to be rude. Besides, your request is ridiculous. Stoker based much of his character on the real historical Vlad. You are aware of that, right?

  • @lollipopfop Yes, I'm aware that Dracula was partially based on Vlad Tepes, but are you aware that the character was inspired just as much by Stoker's employer, Shakespearian actor Henry Irving? Some say there's even a little Oscar Wilde in there (Wilde actually had a brief flirtation with Stoker's wife)

Perhaps I wasn't clear on what I'm precisely objecting to. I hate it when people think Count Dracula is supposed to be an undead version of Vlad Tepes... (to be cont.)

  • @lollipopfop (Cont2) ...the historical figure of Vlad Tepes and using this association as the excuse for crowbarring a useless, nonsensical lovestory into the movie, we could have had the greatest adaptation of Stoker's book ever, instead we got a movie that looked great, had some great acting and some great music, but ultimately had no goddamn idea what it wanted to be about. It's a goddamn mess and a wasted opportunity, all because Hart couldn't be bothered to do his homework.

  • @Reaperdude9 This is TV show on HBO called True Blood. The third season airs on June14th on HBO. It is kinda based on the books by Charlaine Harris.
