Alright. I'm putting in my 2cents right now and saying that their is nothing wrong with Captain America Reborn.
Story wise, it's good. It's reflects well on Brubakers writing. The problem is the way Marvel promoted and released it. It was written to be a story, not a blow-your-balls Mike Bay Fanboy wet dream. And ideally, it probably should have taken place in the Captain America series and not as a mini-series.
And I do believe that Jose and I have stated that. The problem isn't so much with the story as that it's been hyped too much and was given it's own mini...oh yeah, and it's late and they're charging 3.99 for it. And they've extended the mini-series even though IT'S LATE AND COSTS 3.99!
Beyond that, I don't have much of a problem with it. ;)
This was the first Dark Reign book that was fun to read... but Goddamn what's the point of Reborn. the only reason to read Reborn now is if Brittney Murphey has to fight her way back to life with Cap and fight over the shield with Bucky. Marvel's blown their Event asshole completely out.
man, everybody has been going apeshit over the whole Steve Rogers spoiler in New Avengers and Dark Avengers Annuals.
I'm not even buying Captain America Reborn, and just like with flash rebirth I can tell you what happened at the beginning and what will happen at the end.
As for Noh-Varr fighting Sentry that isn't anything to write home about.
Sentry just barely lost to WWH, he did the best out of everyone. Than he lost to Namor. Than he beat f@#$%^& Molecule Man.
I think when bendis has too much to say it shows in his work. In this instance, there wasnt as much clutter, he's finally starting to get down to what the origional plan was.
p.s. ace in the hole has to be marvel man now, a cheesy fight with marvel boy perhaps, and maybe even a cheesy heroic sacrifice of marvel man at the end.
@kurumais The Kree pretty much came out on top, thanks to Ronan leading them. They had to cede some outer-rim territories to Annihilus's forces, but they weren't crushed.
While I was interested in finding out what happens to Marvel Boy after reading that he bailed in DA #6. But as Elliot pointed out 4.99 seemed like to much for an annual.
didnt morrison's inter dimensional kree seem much more advanced and powerful then the regular kree? and i loved noh varrs crazy wacky powers ,very unique ,now it looks like bendis turned him into captain marvel, flight and energy powers kind of dull power wise if you ask me hope im wrong
i having hard time believing bendis wrote that lol
i never thought of noh varr as a hero remeber he declared war on the earth in the morrison mini that introduced him. i always thought of him as a kree soldier , thats why i thought he would fit in with dark avengers but he would pursue his own agenda as well . i loved the mod boy look he had in this book but i too wasnt crazy about the new costume kind of toad like.
ahhhhhhhh...clever play on words there. Perhaps that's why the Cap mini is delayed? At the end, Rogers will be installed as director of S.H.I.E.L.D.? Intriguing.
It's not exactly clear "who will weild the shield" because in IIM #21, that came out, Steve wield the shield and he wear the old Captain America suit.
i liked this book for obvious reasons and i like the story i just think it should hav had a longer fight scene especially for 5 bucks but over all it was good and the costume might look better if someone else illustrates it, also, in like secret invasion didnt marvel boy get the nega-band replicas from the skrull marvell?
ill pick up all this stuff in the trades most likely, i kind of like dark avengers but at the same time i dont like it, anywaise great positive review XD
See? We will give a POSITIVE REVIEW for a book we like, regardless of who wrote it. In fact, we have given Bendis good reviews before, i.e. his FCBD Avengers book. Plus, read Fortune & Glory, his book from Oni Press. Funny, funny stuff!
Steve Rogers: Director of S.H.I.E.L.D Would make me be ok with his return and want me to read him in future, thought it seems never to be.

btw werent the kree crushed in the annihilation mini?
kurumais 2 years ago
@kurumais No. What was left of the Skrull Empire, prior to Secret Invasion was wiped out by in the Annihilation War.
johnnyhorror92182 2 years ago
@johnnyhorror92182 i knew that but i think the kree were crushed too

HA HA! What? Wuddisay?
Sure this isnt El responding posing as Jose?
stevenrocks5937 2 years ago
Oh Bendis.
I like you, but after Siege you need to stay away from the Avengers. You're milking dust out of the Avengers cow.
Actually no, I like his Avengers stuff, but there's always a set up, always an event.
But that's what happens in most of the Marvel Universe these days. It's all about the events which personally I'm tired of.
Though I'm waiting for Blackest Night TPB:P

I'm not a fan of his 616 work but i do love Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man. I feel he works best if he not in the main universe.
danisgod6492 2 years ago
I actually read this issue in the shop and thought the same thing, E. It's like Jose said: Put Bendis in a Box, and the quality of his work improves.
