  • I'd like to see Apocalyptica cover this.

  • ENERGIA

  • King Crimson

  • nice picture and fine sounds-

  • Bartok was f*cking metal. : )

  • i am not yet ready for this song to the extreme

  • Now I know where Fripp got some of his tricks.

  • My marching band based the closer off of this movement! :D

  • my god bartok is brilliant. i wish i could write like him. despite the fact that the entire piece is atonal, it is beautiful. by taking folk songs and writing them in modern style, he has connected the past with the presence. go bartok!

  • Jajaja doofda boofen und das keinliedoktor gundegedrechenschtule ja?

  • I love the parts when all of the different melodic lines are weaving together. Also the tight, angular rhythms. And the cool percussive effects. Ahh Bartok you are so good.

  • if anyones a teacher of world history, make sure you add this music to any study of pre-WW2 Europe. you must capture the mood of of the time!=fear, discontent, social turmoil, etc.

  • all sonflict is inner conflict. this is my favorite movement of this song because the war type bass. the bass line reminds me of mars from the planets. overall a great peice; regardless of dissonance.

  • only superficial morons can make derogatory comments ..

  • @Kuplungmaster isn't this a derogatory comment in itself.... :(

  • Highest rated comments here are both f*cking morons

  • I imagine this movement played at a concert. Whoa! It will be the first classical concert in history with head bang and the violinists jumping on the crowd.

  • You're right, the painting doesn't represent the music. But, how grand the music.

  • this is a good performance however emerson is my favorite

  • This interpretation is almost a bit to beautiful and elegant. This music requires more fire! More dirt!

  • this is so dark...

  • Let's compare this stunning and awesome piece with King Crimson's Larks' Tongues in Aspic part II: this progressive piece depends heavily on Bartók's quartet.

  • Nice version!!

  • This is metal

  • @Bagas yeah, I hear that too.. in a weird way-proto sort of way...

  • Oh my gosh! This is wonderful! One of the best string quartets I've heard.

  • I find myself wishing this was longer. I love Bartok's tunes and rhythms and find myself always wanting to hear them again and again. Endlessly rewarding music.

  • This is Sick!

  • great piece!

  • This piece truly makes me realize that Bartok's use of dissonance was meant to be exciting, not creepy or intellectual. He wanted to make us dance!

  • @MisterTahti well he did a good job. im moving around in my chair like crazy.

  • @MisterTahti Dance or mosh? :P

  • @jek21 MOOSHH

  • @jek21 Definitely mosh!

  • omg now that we can play it, its EPIC :D

  • I like this painting, and I love this music, but the two do not match up. Yes, the music is dissonant, and there is tension there, but not the fragmentation and desperation found in Picasso's Weeping Woman. When Bartok uses folksong, he does it to affirm life and humanity. Interesting lesson on how visual images can (mis?)-interpret music for us.

  • That's how you interpret it, this how I interpret it. That's what makes interpretation interesting!

  • Your intepretation is definitely an interesting perspective, but I personally thought they were an excellent match and they evoke very congruous emotions for me.

  • @HARMONICO101 All interpretations are NOT made equal. :(

  • @HARMONICO101 Do you know the tempo this is being played at?

  • i don't like the art, but I does kind of complement the music...disjointed and all...

  • @rjr1967 In my opinion - I believe the picture and the music fit in well. Abstract arts match up together perfectly!

  • @scaryfried Oi, oi, oi, watch it adolescent creep. Though your command of english and your expressive power are impressive --especially your curious suggestion that a male homosexual is also female genitalia-- nobody wants to read the bizarre overreactions of a pubescent vessel of erupting hormones. Keep things in check.

  • @rjr1967

    Why does the woman weep?

  • were playing this song... and marching 2 it in band O.o gonna be hard yet fun :D

  • nice piece

    i like the pic
