  • They're laughing about this, but in real life there would be no laughter!

  • for every myth busters vid im saying Der Santa...

  • Go and see how a chinese wok works, this is nothing

  • never thought I'd hear Adam saying "we need a SMALLER scale" UHAEuhAEuHAEu

  • this is obviously special effects... im gonna get my camra and make my oil catch on fire. im gonna poor water on it and prove to you its fake.

    20min later...

    boom*

    me:NVM

  • this might not b safe for anybody to hear but i cook on a large commercial wok with a water spigot about a foot above it. on average i only use one ounce of vegetable oil when i'm cooking(max two) and before i knew any better whenever that shit would catch on fire the first thing i did was douse it in water until there were no more flames. i cook under stainless steal which is degreased everynight and i wouldn't do this in any other part of a kitchen. still...

  • dsdsdass

  • I lost par of my home last summer to a grease fire, luckily i was able to but it out before it spread far.

  • im 11 years old, and i set my kitchen of fire from greese. but the scary thing was, I was home alone. It was waay bigger then this demonstration. I didnt just put 8 table spoons of oil, I put like a whole bottle of oil and put it on high and then it caught on fire and my stupid self threw a bucket of water on it and it blew up. Im so thankful my house didnt burn down and i didnt get hurt

  • I have that exact mini egg pan.

  • typical brainless american

    screaming at a fire

  • @middlehavenracer its probably called comedy and whatnot, yes we are stupid as hell at times, but don't make us get stereotypical

  • @middlehavenracer I do believe that he was surprised at the result. And I wouldn't call any of the mythbusters "brainless". You don't work for George Lucas unless you're brilliant.

  • i remember this being addressed on a fat albert cartoon

  • Amazing how 1 teaspoon can do that. Fucking crazy.

  • is there new eps coming in oct?

  • Omg.... this kinda totally happened to me once at a friends house.... I was cooking yakisoba and omg Im so glad they have a tall ceiling rofl! The flame was HUGE!

  • It would of went to 30 feet if the wind didnt affect it

  • "WOW! *Pause* HA, HA, HA, HA, HA." xD

  • ima try doig dat in my kitchen hell yea

fuck all u goody to shoes

  • @mcmuffinmold Your an idiot

  • 0:34 You just cant screw this nut on any worse than he does it!!!! LOL :P

  • During the tests the water they used became heated when held over the burning grease. What would the fire look like if the water was room temperature (i.e. 72 degrees)?

  • hmmmmmmmmm...

    this looks scarily recreate-able

  • I loved this episode, particularly when the Fire Extinguisher was brought out.

Spray. "Fire says 'Is that all you got!" -Adam

Spray again. "Fire says 'Leave me alone!" -Adam

Spray at fire spray at Adam. "Oh that's cold!" -Adam

  • 1:42 1:48

  • i want wednesday to be now

  • What a fire :X:X [ 1:35 ]

  • I did this when i was little... but with candles and water. Was scary as hell :P

  • I'm so glad Mythbusters is doing this one. It's something a lot of fire departments struggle with spreading awareness for. Grease fires are very dangerous. Everyone should have an ABC dry chemical extinguisher in the kitchens for emergencies.

  • @Brimfeather whatever...

  • @Brimfeather or a lid, that works too on fire in a pan

  • @pettermg So does flour.

  • @Brimfeather sex

  • what do they pour into the pan before great fire

  • One teaspoon of water.

  • ???????????????

  • Exactly. If you cook something in grease or oil and it catches fire, you should not try to stop it with water, because water spills it and you hurt yourself and the kitchen burns down. The amount needed was a bit surprising, though. (And nice that you appreciate Finnish music!)

  • oh ok I understand, now

  • i seen this LOL

  • wow, holly crap

  • yeap I did the same about 5 years ago. Got a black ceiling :)

  • Don't kill me if this is a dumb question but how do you put out a greasefire?

  • Baking soda. It's pretty much a perfect fire-extinguisher.

  • Not sure about the flour advice - isn't flour really flammable, especially when it's thrown and in the air?

  • yeah

i know because all it does is sparks,

i think what you are supposed to do is throw the entire bag on it

  • Yeah, much to my chagrin, it appears i took a shit on this one. flour is really flammable. i'm glad i haven't ever had a grease fire in the kitchen:) thanks for clearing me up! learn something new everyday.

  • With a lid or a carpet if you have to.

  • Okey thanks guys, doesn't hurt to know :)

  • wet towell works just fine and is usualy found in the kitchen :;) just put it over the pan to eliminate the source of air.

  • cuuuutee

  • CUTE LITTLE FIRES FTW!

  • hrahrahrahrarhharahraa good joke

  • 1:44 wow

  • I am so gonna try that

  • Say hello to the hospital nurses for me. :3

  • not a good idea! The oil will stick to your skin and burn it off in seconds.

  • and dont forget to add the big fire ball disintergrating your skin after...or before...thought you would have to be close to it

  • nope

  • Cool.

  • I thought they were gonna do myths on the movie Grease.

  • LOFL

  • Jeez, I think I have to thank my mother everytime now after she cooks!

  • w00t!

  • mythbuster is my favorite show !! wohoo!!!!

  • Mythbusters RULE!!!!!

  • WTF? Since when mythbusters on youtube not leave you at a cliff hanger?

  • blame women can't cook and thats what there job is

  • thats amazing

  • lol they dont need a smaler scale, they need a bigger place.

  • Awesome
