are you using some noise gate or noise supressor? because you don't have humming when you turn it on. I have a metal muff too should I get an EHX adapter for it?
thank you man i'm getting now...with an zack wylde overdrive as well...and the noisse supressor =) ....btw you should upload a video with the metal muff and the overdrive mixed togheter to see what it sounds like....
@colombian0907 I had a Metal Muff and use it alone in some of my stuff, it works really well as a tube sound overdrive, just don't use too much gain, make an equillibrate volume, in your amp, use it on a clean channel with this settings: bass-almost all the way up, mid-11 o´clock,treble-1 o´clock, but if you want a warmer sound use your overdrive channel without gain and turn this settings on your amp: bass-3 o'clock,mid-10 o´clock,treble-3 o'clock, try it ,I hope it'll be useful for you!!
yup i have a metal core ml 2 and now i have this muff. i have the muff set for super heavy distortion chained with my metal core for high output for shredding and ripping leads!!
dude this peddle sucks for me, im playing it off a shitty line 6 spider 3, is that why it sounds liek shit, i would rather play with my amp distortion than this peddles
Yup, I think the combination of spider and metal muff is probably not the ideal one. Try to find a good clean setting from your spider and use metal muff with it.
You mean the clean channel or jsut not so much gain? I ordered a pedal today and i just wanted to know. I've ordered for 250$ of guitar gear today, i can't fucking wait.
Okay, thanks, and i have patience problemsXD Nice playing, although, with all due respect, it seems like you don't really know what to do with the clean channel, are you not much of a clean player? =)
@Mayhem3033 Its your amp man even on clean its impossible to get digital mod off a line 6. thats why i hate them. get you a valveking or some tube amp second hand.
if any pedal is true bypass then take the battery out and you should get your guitar signal coming out with the effect off ..hence bypass=the circuit!...lesson over dudes. ha ha..
after spent thousands dollars in pedals i finally stuck in MetalMuff and Guyatone Metal Monster.i have a solidstate and a valve amp and this two pedals are simply the best i ve ever tried
Well... I had one of those for about a day and it burnt out.(Yes I was using the right cable and ac adapter) It's manufacturer is bad, but the pedal is great for it's price. There are definitely better pedals for a bit higher price. I use a TL-2 after my Metal Muff broke the first day I had it. I have to say I like the TL-2 a lot better because the tone doesn't cut out when I turn the volume up high. It also cost less. Metal Muff is a good pedal with a bad manufacturer, that's all.
I wouldn't make a generalizing judgement about the manufacturer based on one bad experience, especially when you don't know what caused the pedal to burn out.
I see your point in which I would make that mistake. But I went back to Guitar Center and many people were bringing back the pedal as I was told. The man at Guitar Center opened it up and took one look and knew what the problem was. We checked the ac adaptor which is usually why they burn out but I had the right one. It is still a great pedal. I just don't want to take any second chances. I am probably wrong about the pedal having a bad manufacturer, but that is what he said at Guitar Center.
I've had my MM wit top boost for almost a year and its NEVER failed me, I really think people shouldnt judge the manufacturer off of one lemon pedal... it happens with electronics, usually EHX will be nice if you phone them and send a replacement, I've had problems with dunlop.... did that sour me on dunlops products?! NO! these companies most often will issue you a prompt replacement, that being said though, i have heard horror stories of being stuck with a busted pedal, never happend to me tho
not in my opinion, i own the metal muff too, it rocks, definitely, and it has an extra bonus, the top boost, that makes your guitar sound even more distorted. i love to play metallica songs, and with the metal muff, i definitely got the sound i wanted, something close to the ride the lightning/master/justice era
if i could only own one, i would choose the metal muff /m/
i play it thru a solidstate and i agree, it sounds better then the metal zone, uber metal, etc. thru a solid state. i havent had the chance to put it thru a good tube amp yet, but its one of the best pedals money can buy.
i ran one through a vox ac30 with a little overdrive from the amp and then i had the distortion from the metal muff at about 55-60% and it sounded really good. the top boost is also killer for cutting through with solos or lead parts or w/e
I like so much te sound!! Ough yeah!

Not sure about whether it'll sound like tube amp (probably not) but yes, I have used overdrive with Metal Muff, and it sounds great.

I don't mind solid state amps (some are actually really good - JC 120), but I haven't tried it with one.
