Intel Celeron 2.4(S478), 1GB, fx5200 running vista with aero

My brother has vista on a celeron it's really slow because celeron's cache (not sure if the cache affects the speed of the computer) is lower than what a P4 478 would be but think my brothers spec is Intel Celeron 2.66Ghz 1.5GB RAM DDR1 256MB Nvidia Geforce fx5200 (One with no fan) =P 80GB Hard Drive Compared to my old one AMD Duron 1.4Ghz 768MB RAM DDR1 32MB S3 Prosalvage (on-board graphics) 200GB hard drive I only put Vista on my computer as a test. Gets the job done and had no BSODs

@supergreenx I'm very not suggest you running Windows Vista on this computer, because it will running vista very slow (The CPU is not fast) ... If want to run vista on computer, i think use Pentium 4 (S775) or higher, 1GB DDR2 or more is more better... Of course you can try on your own :) when you tried, come to tell me, haha *Windows 7 is better than vista...(Performance)

I think it can and it won't run very slow, but I recommend don't use slow hard disk to run vista. recommend run Vista sp1 because it fast than sp0 a lot

512meg plus a Celeron does NOT make for a good Vista system.

I see a lot of supermarket sold cheapo laptops with Celeron processor and 512meg/1gig trying to run Vista, and the performance is just awful.

That PC isn't Vista "ready". Vista needs at least 80GB hard drive space, as it uses 35gb for install, and then uses about 20GB at first use. Even 1GB ram isn't enough either, 2GB minimum for Vista.

You'd be far better with XP on such a system.

actually aero is very smooth, Flip 3d lags like hell. but everything is fine i used for my office setup for a while, i had no problems with about 2 to 10 windows open it was fine, recently my fx5200 card died, no idea i was working and everything artifacted, and restart came with a BSOD.

Yo tambien probe vista en un celeron y fue un desastre lo probe en un Celeron a 2,93 Ghz, 1 GB RAMDDR400 y una NVIDIA 5500 y se rentilizaba mucho, el areo hiba muy muy mal y incluso los juegos antiguos del año 2000 hiban a golpes.

Esta claro que vista necesita una buena maquina
