it's such a shame most people know him because of his work on the Amelie movie. Listen to some of his other work. you'll notice he does much much more then just tinkling softly on some black and white keys.

i'd like to think he's one of the best, as he is constantly trying to reinvent his work in different ways. His diversity in instruments is fenominal, aswell as his degree of mastering them.

@XanThorax i wouldn't say it's a shame. that amelie soundtrack is one of his best works in my opinion. he probably doesn't think it's just "tinkling softly on some black and white keys". i agree though that he is constantly reinventing his sound and that's why he's great, so people should definitely check out his stuff outside his film soundtracks!

@fgront Think of it as a rougher side of the soft kindness found in the original track. Amelie enjoyed moments of intensity in her life too. Besides, you shouldn't think of songs as only having one interpretation. Getting to hear another point of view of the same song by a different musician, or even by the same author, is really nice and interesting.

The arrangement is fantastic even though it's much darker than the original, in my opinion.

his albums are all over the place. he tends to be very minimalist with his music (excluding this song). If you want his discography look him up on wikipedia. rue des cascades is pretty good. keep in mind that most songs will be single instrument compositions on his albums. nothing like this song.
